genelenergy thank you for the input. I have sold out on the 19th at 7.06p and then watched it fall all the way down. I then traded it the same day as it appeared oversold but i am now out of the share. I was looking for a quick recovery trade: That didnt materialise and nearly 5 months on i am still invested ....My lessons learnt i) dont try and catch a falling knife ii) put in a stop loss and stick to it .... fortunately lesson 3) i adhered too and that is Patience and by holding on to what fundamentally looks like a good company I am back in profit ... Momentum sees to be on the increase so in my opinion only chart looks good.... Borgy

genelenergy: each to their own opinion but that's a rather damning assessment of a sp ... a fall in the region of 70% ... it seems very unlikely. I'll stick to the charts and i have only been in a few days but i have a trading plan and i'll follow that .. at the moment this looks good. Borgy

Your right double top but I was following this for a few weeks and I had an alert set up for 688p which if broken would be a three touch top on the resistance ... so actually I bought against conventional wisdom, Buy low sell high. In fact I bought high at 692.5p with a view that this is now a breakout trade and with momentum clearly behind the Sp. Hopefully will head higher ... that was my plan. Borgy

despite the momentum behind the recent uptrend in VM .. I dont like the closing candle today. well that was timely response to my message yesterday "hopefully something will happen to get this on the move again.." fluke really! anyway i am glad to be in this.

I bought in yesterday at 286.44 once my factors ( i refer to them internally as energies ) all kicked in. SP crossing over a number of moving averages 20, EMA 34, 50 SMA and 8/34EMA cross over and then MACD crossing up zero ... all alligned to improve the probability that sp will continue to rise with momentum, anyway what i believe triggered the sp rise yesterday was the following "Virgin Money gains after BoE card lending review" this was featured in the FT yesterday Virgin Money was a standout gainer on Tuesday after a Bank of England review of credit card lending delivered milder recommendations than feared. The BoE’s Prudential Regulation Authority called on lenders to improve reporting around promotional deals but chose not to cap effective interest rates. My initial target is 307p being the 200 sma

That was a nice little 3% surge this afternoon. Cant complain on that since my top up on Thursday. Looks like others are sitting tight too and not throwing in the towel.

Any vested person understand what may have caused a 5% drop. This was on the verge of a breakout but ended up being a false break out and nearly caught me out as i wanted to enter at 48p.

You may have caught the bottom at that price. Sure intra day there were price ranges well below until 128 which may have spooked you But what was you trying to do scalp this illiquid share? had you held on you would be in a tidy profit. I bought today at 152.90 and sure enough it went down to 151 but my reading of the technicals (explained in yesterday posts) gave me the confidence and so far in 1 day im up 4.65%. This is a volatile stock due to its illiquidity but so long as you control your risk ... i think this could be on for a rebound.

I have been waiting for the falling knife to settle and i think now we could be close. This is one stock i have managed to trade very well by the virtue of patience waiting for my signals (energies to be aligned) On the Daily we have a close above 50sma (very positive). The RSI is at 55 and stochastic at 75 ... momentum is strong but what i am waiting for is the MACD to cross zero. with this stock when MACD crosses zero is goes on a run. Take a look back at November (11/11/16) when MACD > 0 to the upside. One last energy which is a trigger to buy is when the 8EMA crossing up over the 34 EMA .. its very close. I am only looking at the technicals here but if indeed the shorts are being closed/reduced this could well be a reason. Nims tend to agree with u here. I posted on Monday 202p resistance and then onto 204p. It failed to hold 204p so whilst stock specific it is trying its best go on a sustained rise lets not forget the tide (market) is against this blue chip ,,, to use an analogy in reverse "A rising tide lifts all boats" the same happens when the tide is receding. Agree Barc on the daily is not a buy it's downtrending. I took up a scalp position today on 1 hr chart at 199.5p and sold out at 201.7... I could have waited to 202 but I see that as a resistance level on three occasions since 21/06 ... I left my screen at 15:45 and the Sp pulled back. I'm no waiting for 202p to be broken before I go in for the 204p to close the gap... this is downtrending right now so whilst we throw out 220-240p my strategy doesn't go against the trend ... but I will scalp it on breakouts and pullbacks
