Takeovers26 Feb 2014 08:48
The following question was asked on another forum and one answer is as given.
Q - Who do you think would be potential candidates for a takeover bid?
A- Some obvious candidates but of course, it could be wide open really as the business isn't replicable and Minds + Machines Ltd are such an obvious Takeover candidate for any party wishing to gain appreciable traction in the space.
Yahoo, as it would give them a footing at least to compete on some level with Google in the space. Marissa Meyer, formerly of Google, has been aggressive with her acquisition strategy so far & always likes to keep pace with the biggest competitor ie Google. M&M are the ONLY viable target for her as Donuts are already closely tied up with another Party and Amazon / Google won't be available.
Tuscows as it would make a lot of sense and also with existing contacts between them, not least of which was the recent Director apointment of Elliott Noss, President & CEO of Tuscows.
Verisign, the operators of .Com, who were unable to take part in the new gTLD process but would need an acquisition like M+M to enter the space with enough impact.
Baidu / Ten Cents as part of the China contingent, who will obviously be well aware of the necessity to keep pace with the 'biggest change in the Internet' etc.
There's multiple oher potential Takeover parties and I certainly believe we'll get our first pre-emptive approaches in H2 2014. I'd imagine a highly competitive bidding scenario given TLDH / M+M is the only viable candidate for such Parties to enter into the space with sufficient impact, hence top dollar expected on the Takeover - that exit route essentially being already affirmed by the CEO, Antony van Couvering as well as the Chairman.
