Daz - in answer to your question is that we have to prioritise our limited resources so that we get in to a position where we can create more than one in a relatively short period of time. This requires containerisation and certification which is the stated goal. Further with what mounts to a redesign for lower cost, it’s clear the fuel cell needs to go through this process too.
To me, it makes complete sense. I’ve said many times over the years on this board that we’re focussing on too many things at the same time. I’m happy we’re focussing on speedy. We’ve removed the ability to baulk or think too much about the cost. Should they be happy with technical and operational performance we should be in an excellent position to ask them to reserve capacity of our manufacturing capacity, and relatively soon.
As it stand a the new, packaged hydrogen supply and fuel cell products will start to come online roughly at a similar time. That means between now and then the biz dev work begins. Part of that involves some 20 odd systems being out there l, hopefully exciting clients. It is exciting to me that Balfour Beatty, Kier etc are coming in and out of our doors. AFC can genuinely claim they have built these systems with industry with or without a proprietary stack. This is a bet that we have the partnership, experience and good will to make that bet. Further our proprietary stacks can still be developed for lower cost in the background so that we retain the benefit of the historic investment.
