Marketwatch is a US site, and this is probably the first time I've seen Darktrace mentioned. This should give good exposure to US investors.

Only fools (including the Motley Fool's fools) fail to see that the cybersecurity business is booming.

The government don't buy off-the-shelf software, they prefer to get contractors to build custom solution. You see that with all the government IT projects which is plagued by overbudget and massive delay. That is how the ministers make their friends and relatives rich.

nidec, I'll use an analogy. If you were to install a door lock at home, then Darktrace is the manufacturer of the lock, and BAE is the locksmith that comes to your house to fix it. If the house is broken into, you call the locksmith to come fix it. They are completely different businesses.

That's right, Darktrace is a not a consultancy firm.

What a good surprise, it is 7% up now. Now my paper lose is back to range I'm comfortable with.

It is not just Darktrace, the UK tech stocks in general rises today. This volume isn't high this morning, so will need to wait till US market opens to confirm the trend.

Because of lack of research reports by other banks, ill-intentioned broker can short a stock easily by issuing rubbish research note. This is not helped by those fools from Motley Fool. One of the fools just said he thought IPO price of 250p was reasonable without giving any reason, calculation to back that up.

Yes, if a stock can collapse quickly, it can also rocket. See that a lot in Nasdaq, most recent example is Snap. After Meta's disappointing earning, Investors panicked and dumped the shares resulting 25% drop the day before earning report, after which shot up 58%, pity those who sold. Today, THG shot up 18% today for no apparent reason.

Darktrace won't be able to pull this off on its own, it will wait till the UK market has restored confidence in tech stocks.

Cyber war is bigger threat than actual war. While physical war is likely to be contained around Ukraine-Russia, cyber war could be waged in every corner of the world with internet. Darktrace's business must be booming but it will take 1 to 2 quarters to appear in financial result.

By the way, you will only lose money when you sell. Therefore, I'd advise people to ignore daily fluctuation and hold the shares unless there is big development that changes the business or market sentiment.

It is now a day trader's world when there is no clear trend. This happens to other UK tech stocks like Alphawave. But I guess this should end soon.

Agree with Ndn71, KKR buying is a substantial development, could be a milestone if look back after a few months time. It counters the saying that the company was no good because directors were selling.

Can't access the report but the summary lists Darktrace as one of the major players along big names like Google.

getagfrip, I'm no expert in law but I don't think HP would want to sue everybody involved in the company finance like data entry clerk. Only top level decision making people are liable. Furthermore, only big shareholders like ML have the means to repay the money, don't think Poppy benefited much from sale to HP.

There is no need to argue on what you believe the SP is. If you believe it will rise, buy; if you believe it will fall, sell.
