Be nice if we got a little bump from this today, but not getting too excited. Still a way to go just to get back to £1.60 ffs. How often have we seen the price glacially crawl upwards on good news, only to lose it all (and more) in one session.

Still, maybe it will be be different this time. How many times have I said that about all manner of things in life? What's that quote about repeating the same behaviour, but expecting a different outcome? I wonder what those men in white coats are doing in my garden?

Reppyrr -Not sure how it affects the number of travellers, or IAG, but you comments about San Francisco are true, and very depressing. I've been there, many years, ago, and it's visually stunning- probably the most beautifully located city in the world. If California were a an independent country, it would be the fifth richest in the world. So that's one of the wealthiest areas of the richest state, in the richest country in the world, but with appalling levels of homelessness, poverty, drugs, crime etc. etc. Most of the homeless have jobs, but are reduced to living in cars, or under bridges due to the obscene price of property. The whole situation is disgusting. And caused by what? The usual culprits - greed, selfishness, hubris, corruption, arrogance etc. etc.

As we all (unfortunately) know, what happens in the states, at some point crosses the Atlantic, and spreads it's tendrils here. Well guess what - it's already here, and about to get worse.

Apologies for non-IAG related rant, but it makes my blood boil, and if I don't vent, I may just explode.

Skindle - very kind, thank you. Have thought about applying for a senior position with one of those august institutions, but fear my tendency to tell the truth would automatically exclude me. It's a nasty habit that I've had for a long time, and I'm trying to get rid of it.

Fordm - could not agree with you more. The only piece of your enjoyable mini-rant I don't agree with is your choice of tense-"fast becoming" should be "has become".

As for Bailey, I only recently realised that prior to the B. of E, he was in charge at the FCA. To describe them as useless would be an insult to useless things.

Also agree about the interest rates (as do numerous economists/financial experts).

Every day it becomes more apparent that we are led (and not just government, but a wide variety of bodies/organisations) by incompetent, corrupt people whose first, second, and third priority is to advance their own (and their mates') position, with almost no consideration for the rest of us oiks. What's happening here is appalling - I genuinely fear for the future of this once great country.

Anyway, I feel much better for that little rant - it has set me up nicely for the day. I'll probably be in the pub later (putting the world to rights again -it's my favourite hobby) so expect some nonsensical drivel about 8 or 9 O'clock. Apologies in advance.

That is truly bizarre. DB - are you watching? That horse (Bankrupt) that I promoted earlier - purely as a joke - actually won. That is ridiculous in the extreme. If I (or you/anyone here) had actually put their money on that, they would now be retired, instead of waiting for IAG to crawl up by 0.5%. Life really does have a cruel sense of humour.

It takes a lot to surprise me, but seriously! - after your post earlier about having some spare cash to blow on shares, I literally trawled through todays race-card, and plucked that name out (Bankrupt) as a random joke. And now it's won.

I don't know whether to laugh or cry (I'm leaning toward the latter option). Utterly bonkers.

DB - Didn't make the Black Horse connection earlier, but I'm in Lloyds as well. Another frustrating one - back up over 50p just recently, and now back down to 44'ish. At least they pay a dividend. Don't know if the horse at Bath is black or not, but at 12/1...

Never been into the gee gees myself. Everything from pitch n'toss to roulette, but not that. Mind you, after the last few years on the stock market, roulette starts to look like a relatively conservative gamble. I got tired of losing out on risky investments a few years back, so decided to put my money in an industry I knew (airlines) - steady business, with a good dividend yield. That was December 2019....

DB - 'Blackmore Building Contractors Classified Stakes" -Bath @ 1900 today. There's a horse called 'bankrupt' (seriously) running - 12/1. Go for it.

Hi D9 - yep, we seem to be stuck in this fairly narrow price range. As for the "pop" up to the £2 region, we've been waiting for that for over 18 months now, but there always seem to be the next fly in the ointment. Can't see £2 anytime soon ( would love to be wrong). I'm stuck with a "day trade" at about 163 from a couple of weeks ago, which I'll ditch if we reach 170. Be tempted to get rid of the rest if we get back over 180, but we'll just have to see.

PS - I'm also in EZJ (like many here) - hoping for £6 there.

Of course, this is all subject to change. Got a rather delightful new lady friend, but she does like her double G&T's, so (pub prices being what they are) I may have to flog my whole portfolio soon just to keep her onside.

So much for my prediction of 170 next week. I am honestly flabbergasted that we have slipped back into the 150's I genuinely thought we had left those days behind. Had a little top-up @ 163 a couple of days ago, and yesterday that was starting to look like a decent call. Not so much now. When will I learn? Probably never.

Never mind - I'll just have to be patient, and sit on them -AGAIN! Seem to have been having this same conversation for about 2 years now. Groundhog Day indeed. EZJ has had an even worse pummelling. Looks like I will just have to take refuge in the pub.
