@latpulldown I think Barbara was either asleep when the brilliant Enzo Carlucci was on the stand or more likely she had already made up her mind on what/who to take notice of during the open statements because CPX are a Canadian Company.

She ignored all logic from CWs side its like the case for the defense didn't even happen. Her ruling seems to be based on she didn't believe (or more likely didn't like) Mooky ,Israel and Nissan - so they were trying to calm down investors texting them? Big deal who wouldn't have done the same, I'm not sure that crime is worth a fine of $1.2 billion!?

She ignored the childish spat between Mr Ellis and Mr Sonshine over CPX not paying their rent which we know lead to CW pulling out - the whole ruling is just totally insane

Yes Mountainous looks like Barbara favoured ranting, crazy bus analogies and, dare I say, protectionism over logic and reason. If she is going on missing synergies didn't she ever listen to the brilliant Enzo!?

Thanks for asking no I haven't held up well today at all and I hardly slept last night. I'm really stressed out and feeling extremely anxious all of my money is in CINE :-( People have been asking if I'm OK and quite clearly I'm not.

No I can't see how there could be a court case leak given that the judgement is being made by one person - the judge herself. Barbara was definitely not the type of person to leak anything to either side she was very professional with a no nonsense persona, also I'm sure it would illegal for a judge to do that with no personal benefit to her. And as mentioned already CinePlex are down 5% too

As predicted she is taking a long time to reach her verdict which seems surprising to many of us who sat through it all given the evidence showed the whole thing was a total farce and should never have even gone before a judge. At least we found out how not to run a bus company though lol

Nevertheless Bonkers it was nice to see Mooky on my newsfeed so late at night :-)

Excellent summary smalltrader. I watched the whole case too I agree with all your points. CPs claim for the full amount of the sale while keeping the company is beyond reasonable and I can't understand why it was even allowed before a judge, the whole thing has been a total waste of time and caused damage to our SP ever since but that is no doubt what Mr Jacob intended in an unprofessional childish payback to Mooky. Even if we win we only claimed for expenses so just back to where we were before it, however as discussed here before a draw is also a win from our perspective not having to pay $2.1 billion

Also worth noting Barbara said she would inform the lawyers of her ruling after the close of both stock markets so with TSX closing at 4pm (9pm GMT) check the news each night after then :-)

Yes it was encouraging BC when Barbara kept returning to questioning Cineplex not paying their rent but also frustrating that in his overlong angry reply rant Mr Mark mentioned twice that Cineworld did the same. I felt like shouting at the TV that, unlike Cineplex, Cineworld weren't under a trade deal agreement with a debt ceiling they couldn't go above so their situation could not be compared - although that has been corrected many times by Mr Steep it was unfair for Mr Mark to then make the same wrong comparison twice on reply where Mr Steep couldn't rise. Barbara unfortunately didn't have a question on that ridiculous comparison and allowed him to shout it twice, but as she was really on the ball hopefully she had no need to :-)

Off to see Eternals now. @ Shrewsbury Cineworld, I saw Antlers this afternoon unfortunately for the tills I was the only person in the massive screen 3 but looking at the seating plan for 7:30 Eternals it's 3/4s full at least

I agree Wild the evidence is in our favour and if it was in a UK Court I would be more confident, however my worry right from the start has been a verdict biased towards a Canadian company.

Of course this ridiculous case would never even have gone before a judge in a UK Court though!

It's not as simple as that Bc2020, the lose would depend on how much we would be have to pay in damages. $2. 1 billion we are in the dustbin, couple of million I think we actually go up. Its the fear of CP winning the full amount they are claiming for that is holding down in SP, in my opinion obviously

Mr Steep said yesterday he should be back in court at 11:30 so 15:30 for us
