Berenberg, who started covering XPP in late November, have hiked their target from 3330 to 4170, which is an almost exact 25% increase, and, if reached, would be an all-time high.

Such dramatic changes in broker forecasts over such a short period tend to undermine their credibility, imo, but this one is probably fully justified by XPPs recent comment on likely revenue expansion next year? Vietnamese production logically gives them both a defensive and margin edge over rivals in the medium term, and design wins show they are focused on quality as well as efficiency.

As for your myopic statement about "always negative", you should check your facts before making personal remarks. For example, I said, fairly recently, that it is perfectly reasonable to expect ME to find another big deal, eventually, based on his track record.

When Nano were doing well I was very positive, as I am about other stocks - XPP currently, for example. I'd be very happy to be bullish on Nano too, if the facts supported such a view. Unfortunately the truth is that, unless you are blinkered and biased, it is perfectly obvious that Nano haven't done well very often, and right now isn't their finest hour. That isn't speculation or opinion, just look at a long term share chart or historical results.

You'd have thought the US-China agreement, just signed, might signal a boost for Pru's SP, but apparently not. Perhaps that's a reflection of how limited it is, more notable for what's not in it than what is. Not exactly a satisfactory outcome from three years of trade war.

Market doesn't seem to see much value in Pru, but there's a reasonable expectation of good results - big push into new territories like Thailand and Vietnam, for example, and probably much better results from the US business this year.

JJ it was unusual to see such a drop yesterday with no obvious reason for it. Given that Pru is a widely held stock, it is just about believable that lots of ill-informed people sold on irrelevant news, not unreasonably associating Pru pensions problems with Pru shares, rather than naughty M&G. If so, I can't see them wising up any time soon, if ever!

The surprising thing is that Orph are ahead of their own demanding timetable. The Hvivo deal is effectively an unexpected short-cut to the required mass, and now they can concentrate on their specialist skills in cost reduction and elimination of losses in a much more efficient way than dealing with multiple smaller purchases.

Exceeding expectations thus far gives confidence that they can deliver on the remaining plans.

Regarding the placing, Friel said it will be small, soon, and will not cause substantial dilution. I see no reason to doubt that, and I imagine he has a specific and immediate plan for it, given that the company is to be presented for sale this year.

HI Jatw, well it's odd, isn't it, that both are still on a similar trajectory, up about 10% each since the split, when their prospects now seem to be largely dependent on different factors? I'm expecting an updraft in what look like more favourable trading conditions than last year. There is a possibility that good results in March and/or September could alter the market's perception of both companies: M&G because it verifies it's dependable cash-cow dependability and generosity, Pru because it behaves more like a market-grabbing world player than a lowly UK insurer. Re-rating is possible for both, imo.

The highly unpredictable Presidential elections and Brexit deadline could see a downturn towards the end of the year.
I see M&G ahead for most of the year, with Pru winning by a nose in the final furlong. Definitely maybe.

Specialonek, your historic 12.5% win is admirable, but what about do you think about the 2020 match? Do you think the suspension, which is only temporary and only affects the property funds, is going to hold the M&G share price back, relative to the Pru? How about the prolonged troubles in Hong Kong, isn't that a worse problem to have to deal with? Every player carries a few niggles.

Against the tide is right compadre! That last sandcastle on 31st December was already underwater even before today's wave, but they laid their towel on the beach back in August, at about 2200p, when all other shorters had just packed up and left with a nice suntan. They are really drowning now, and with a high tide forecast, sharks are circling.
