Have a look at the IMI slide (page 15). That programme has an NPV of £148m based on peak (annual?) sales of $700m. I think $716m is the NPV on full exit, there is no mention of what the estimated annual sales could be to support this number. Mon RNS anyone.

Just did a little more research on Weshop and a few items to note:
Name change from Weshop Ltd to Community Social Investment Ltd - this is the UK company that Vela has shares in, which in turn owns shares in Weshop Holdings Ltd (formerly Boanerges ) based in BVI),
The JP Jenkins website shows recent trades in Weshop Holdings Ltd at 350p, I think original deal was struck at 75p,
Several Directors have recently resigned, including Michelle Mone who has been in the news of late, &
Most worryingly, the company has been issued a First Gazette Notice to strike off the company. Presumably this is due to late submission of accounts that were due 28/02. They have 2 months window from 03/05 to resolve or assets go to the Crown. Could be a good one for Novus to pick up and run with?

MC £37.6m * 2.3% = £864k vs £750k investment.

Agree, most recent IPOs have performed poorly, even on FTSE. Silver lining is that Vela will receive 12% discount to placing price per Loan Note terms.

THG, Based on your numbers, I make subtotal 1,717,079, you have omitted Igraine value. The other reconciling item appears to be the value for Aeristech/Weshop listed at £450k. In the half year report it states: The Company has two (31 March 2021: two) unquoted investment classified in this category. The historic cost of this investment is £450,000 (31 March 2021: £450,000) and the fair value as at 30 September 2021 was £777,144 (31 March 2021: £777,144). Assuming same fair value, add another £327,144.
Quoted £1,717,079 + Unquoted £3,877,144 = £5,594,223 vs Reported £5,616,000 = 0.4% var

I received a reply from SGS, they are not running or sponsoring this new trial. On that basis, I think Vela only has interest in the original Covid trial itself and any deal would be for that purpose only, excluding these future trials which presumably have separate investors/funding requirements. EML own patents to AZD1656 so wonder if they are involved at all although AZ is listed as collaborator.

Not really sure tbh. The actual study start dates is Jan 21, 2020 and I note this from the SGS website:
"As a result of coronavirus we have re-prioritised our current research programmes...The potential drug was originally being explored for renal transplant rejection..."

Who is brave enough to contact Vela (after their morning tea break)? Or perhaps SGS just to check on their involvement or otherwise in this new trial. Ok, I will do the later and report back.

Actually, I would say SGS will be involved in all AZD1656 trials. I see that the Principal Investigator is the same in both trials. Also refer to this article from original AZ deal with SGS.

Not clear whether Vela's investment is ring fenced to CV19 or not. CIZ RNS suggests they benefit from a wider range of indications but they do seem to have a couple of deals running in parallel now (my interpretation). Is there different funding arrangements for each trial? At this stage, one trial is more than enough to try and close out.

Yep, it is not straightforward (ref SNG) but one would hope deal is nearly there.

What would be useful is a deep dive into 2 or 3 of the investee companies outlining their progress and given most of the SPs are in the red, what are their plans to turn things around? What about some info on Aeristech that we hear nothing about, any news that can be shared, will they ipo this year? A list of investments or updates already RNS'd is of no value, imo

I would rather they keep cash in bank. Losing 7.5% to inflation is better return than current portfolio. Next quarterly investment update is due in 2 weeks, that should be an interesting read.

A few hours here, a few hours there, then they focus on their other business activities, this is a (well paid) part time gig at best.

Not sure about outright sale price but take a look at this recent RNS (thx to @Postman24), shows the sums of money AZN are prepared to throw at early stage drug development. Worth noting that these payments are at initiation of Phase I based on an out-licensing agreement.
