Times reporting that MH has confirmed that travel will be allowed from July, that vaccinated parents may take unvaccinated children on holiday and return without quarantine provided they all take daily LFT’s.

I am on a train otherwise I would but is anyone free to call into LBC and put the case for declaring a sovereign test and being tested every day by our LFT to avoid quarantine? Lots of controversy and unhappiness being expressed about PCR testing but the value of LFT’s is being overlooked.

There really is no point in having a testing system that fails to pass any tests and therefore perpetuates the use of a device that although having achieved EUA is less effective that other devices produced locally. I agree with Tricky, this is all very convenient - the brief extension of the Innova EUA is not ideal and like Tricky I am certainly disappointed in the way this has been handled, but I can accept we need to use up old stocks and by saving face not cause widespread public concern in LFT testing whilst at the same time building up stock in what must be the soon to be announced sovereign test - Mologic - otherwise potential delay due to TT procedure. I think AVCT should certainly reapply they have been unfairly excluded from PD to date regardless of their European hopes.

I must admit that I am struggling to understand why they would reduce the clinical threshold unless the PD testing (including freezing) is proving to be too difficult to pass - I understood Mologic devise had better outcomes - why accept something not as good?

The extension is for a few months - can only be to use up existing stock and ensure a managed switch to sovereign test - or at least I hope that is the case!

This report was actually published in March and specifically related to Ireland - I missed it at the time and cannot recall it being posted here. It is a long read but very relevant - it positively endorses the use of LFT in many settings. It was referred to in today’s Times, I found pages 22/23 particularly interesting.

Regulator, did they give you an antibody test before your booster jab so they could note your level before and after?

Certainly the decision of the MHRA/DHSC to use the tests outside the manufacturers guidelines - very useful escape clause for Innova. The issue will potentially be about the quality control subsequent to the PD procedure. MHRA/DHSC claim they have comprehensive post authorisation retesting procedures, to do this they will, presumably be testing 1000’s at a time which, again presumably, will be sent to them at various times or upon request by Innova. Pure speculation on my part but if VW and Mercedes, household names, can mislead the authorities on emissions would you think it any less likely that Innova could make sure the batches sent in for retesting were from a good batch whilst others generally supplied to the market and picked up by the FDA were more slap dash? Who knows, just trying to come up with a reason why the FDA testing shows such significantly different test effectiveness results to that of the Uk. The most important issue at this stage is to ensure random unsolicited sales are truly effective and whatever the outcome switch from a Chinese produced product to a UK manufactured sovereign test.

AUaddicted, having watched both Cummings and Han****, I was amazed that MH got off so lightly but for whatever reason, and you have to ask why, Cummings did not provide any of the written evidence he had promised. Perhaps he was hoping that MH might perjure himself during questioning, with today’s release it would appear there are more questions to answer. I think MH was massively lucky’ that the FDA review of Innova did not hit the internet until after MH had given his evidence although I am very suspicious that many questions that were suggested surrounding testing were not asked on the day.

At some point PD will have to consider the possibility that freezing samples multiple times effects some of the proteins that may form the basis of a test. In real life the virus is not frozen. The gap between PD suggested failure rate of 30% and Mologic own identified failure rate of 1 to 2% which has now been backed up by FIND is simply too large to be viable, especially when you consider that Mologic are probably the most respected company within the biotechnology industry. Common sense needs to be used.

I have to assume that the gravity of the FDA accusations against Innova particularly as it affects HMG’s decisions to supply a questionable product in massive numbers has led officials, in the public interest, to approach news editors and ask them not to run the story. I find it almost unbelievable that this open goal by news hungry reporters and those seeking political gain has otherwise been missed. I do not doubt the ability of the testing at PD but have slightly less faith perhaps in the follow up testing to ensure quality control. In an almost unprecedented move Innova’s website has been down since the news landed, this must be significant. Deeks has otherwise been blasting Innova from the beginning, we had him marked as no friend of LFT’s but I now believe he was blasting the cost involved in supplying a potentially faulty product from Innova and not actually the validity of LFT’s in general - under pressure from ABDX he admitted as much. Testing by LFT is the only viable route for mass testing - NHS, care workers, many in the public sector and all international travellers will need a fast efficient and reliable system to prove their continued status regardless of vaccine at least for the foreseeable future. As may have been noted in the past, I am generally a fan of the government actions through the pandemic but I am struggling with the delays and the stonewalling potentially behind the delay in announcing a sovereign test and giving the green light for production. I believe we have the test or one of the tests that will ultimately become the sovereign test but second guessing by government officials and potentially a desire to use up more of a now discredited stock has lead to road blocks. This could end up being the biggest breach of duty case that will at some point hold those responsible to account, any further delays will only compound the issue. I make no apology for hoping that Mologic are named as a sovereign test and still believe, although battered by the SP that things will be brought to a head and ODX will finally be in a position to get on with the job, potentially re employ those contractors that it may have let go, and finally sell everything that they can manufacture. Now is not the time to give up and sell.

What an amazing journey this has already proved to be. I sit on a 750% rise and have taken my original stake and 100% profit. If only my other holdings had performed so well. ATB

Personally I think this RNS was all that we could expect and entirely appropriate under the circumstances - it confirmed everything we already believe and basically suggested that we all remain calm.

Perhaps a little harsh rocquet? I have always said there is room for more than 1 test and that I don’t care which test ODX produce, I was simply alluding to my belief that Mologic were referring to their own test as best on the planet and not AVCT. No hard feeling I hope.

Well another unexpected turn. We have all thought this was taking far too long - perhaps now we know why. I can only assume that HMG used whatever influence it could muster to, in the public interest, turn the media guns away from what certainly seems to have been massive news from the FDA concerning the Innova test. All that they could have said/begged was do not panic the public. The most positive point from Mologic is that they are not afraid to say that they have the best LFT on the planet - this is a very big statement (sorry AVCT supporters). For PD to report 30% failure rates compared with company’s own reported failure rate of 1 or 2% is a massive and unrealistic divergence. Mologic has been validated by FIND amongst others and that cannot be underestimated. HMG have obviously been stringing everyone along but I agree that the letter before action is absolutely the right way for Mologic to go - it must focus government attention. Mologic are one of the most respected companies in the industry and they will not easily be fobbed off. Would I rather it had not come to this, certainty but ODX are ready to produce any test HMG choose, if I had to bet which as an investor here I probably am doing I would bet that the Mologic test will get approval and we will be pumping out LFT’s as fast as we can but if they are not chosen then we will be pumping out another test. The delay is disappointing and I believe it is a poor show by a government that ostensibly wants to build a UK biometric industry but it will come good and the Mologic action will probably clear the way. Remember the positive statement that Mologic have produced the best LFT on the planet!

Apologies Regulator you are correct and I meant no disrespect for the NHS. Those posting on this board are very aware of the MHRA and the DHSC and the different parts they pay. I was perhaps lazy with my wording but you will agree the the packaging is NHS, the user guide is presented by the NHS and it is commonly known as NHS Test and Trace.

Spot on wadagara, there is no alternative for mass testing. Let’s get producing a soverign test of which we can be proud.
