I read with interest that the US has identified a drop in the demand for testing and we commented here yesterday that there was not the expected take up in demand here in the UK, but the government have previously stated they expected a demand for 2m tests per day that is 728 million per year. Ok let’s accept for a minute that demand/anticipated need for testing reduces (this is far from certain) as a uk manufactured supplier and one of only THREE companies identified as providers of the sovereign test we will be first choice for whatever tests are needed. Most of us have based our figures on the govt order being half of our capacity at 50m per year so even if the ultimate demand is halved we are still likely to be supplying all that we had hoped and potentially more. Don’t worry about speculation, we will sell all we can manufacture once the sovereign test is finally announced. Keep calm and carry on.

ODX signed a 2year contract with HMG for up to £374 m back in February just waiting for confirmation of what the govt want them to produce. The rest of our capacity of 100m per annum can be sold under our own brand.

I would suggest that until we have financial data from ODX in the form of accounts (I believe it unlikely that we will get an RNS that goes into detail with regard figures) then everything is of course speculation, I hope my figures are reasonable based on the info we have and they are the ones I use for my own calculations. Yes the price could be higher, yes the number of tests supplied to the govt could be lower giving us the opportunity to sell more at a higher price elsewhere but these are the calculations I use for myself. Long gone are the days when we had to end our comment with all in my own option door - hopefully that all goes without saying.

Thanks Jubbly but I have to disagree. All of my figures are reasonable assumptions based on what we have already been to,d by Finncap, ODX and via bidstats the government. To suggest that a serious investor would not apply this to their investment decision, including some speculation about a p/e would seem unlikely and in my opinion foolish.

Thanks jeepers, I tried but limited availability and my circumstances mean I cannot yet apply for the test - disappointed.

My point was that we do not know how many Innova tests have been stockpiled or are yet to be drawn down from the previous orders - we do know that no more orders have been given so presumably the quicker we can use them up the sooner the govt can get on with ordering UK produced product.

I think there is little doubt that the Innova tests are less accurate that what will become the sovereign test - another reason they need to be used up, once the sovereign test is announced nobody will want to be fobbed off with a less effective test.

Do your bit get tested regularly and encourage others to do the same it is the surest route forward that is to some extent within our control.

The govt are encouraging all of us to self test twice a week. Dr friends tell me that the actual take up of this offer has not been as significant as they had hoped. As the tests being used are the Innova ones then surely as citizens and investors here we should all be doing our bit to keep safe and use up the stockpile of Chinese inferior tests. It’s the very least you can do.

I agree dim, we would not have increased our staffing levels and left them sitting idle. Sentiment is the biggest obstacle to us here and until we receive some order confirmation or govt confirmation hopefully including home use then we will continue to drift. I have never understood why a holder would knock a stock they are invested in - comment certainly does not have to be totally positive- most of us are not - but if you don’t believe in the company and it’s management then you should not be invested.

Holder, I am afraid all is does show is that Saiditallbefore has never actually seen a pump and dump before or it would know that our SP shows no sign of it.

I agree that for genome testing the PCR test is here to stay but to simply test for confirmation that a body has the virus within it (without specifying the virus variant) then the only practical method is LFT for large scale ( and that means by far the majority) of testing. General testing LFT positive test put forward for PCR, really no other practical way to go.

Silles, I have been banging the drum that LFT testing is on the verge of significant divergent use as familiarity with their use becomes common place. Covid has been a gateway to bring the larger market into reality, thank you for the quote, useful and significant.

To be clear it is my understanding that a variant is the COVID virus that has mutated (as addition or different spikes on it with may attach differently to the host) but is still fully detectable by LFT which test for the underlying virus. I am suggesting that positive results may still be put forward for the PCR test which identifies the variant for statistic genome sequencing.

Hi Computer, I have not read that PCR tests are better able to spot variants than LFT, could you point me in the right direction. I was under the impression that despite the variants the base virus is constant and detectable by LFT, am I wrong?

The Times reports to day about facilities offering PCR tests are struggling to keep up with demand despite charging up to £399 per test for the privilege. One pressing need for a sovereign test supplied by ODX would to fully replace the requirements for a PCR test perhaps other than positive result confirmation. If PCR test centres are struggling now how will they possibly cope with more green list countries? How much longer will we have to wait?

Very pleased to see a RNS this morning. The results underpin and validate everything that ODX are doing and despite a few disappointing comments from some, without this confirmation we would not be in a good place. Evidently it will take time to sink in but the test we have used for our own brand and still the most likely test that will receive govt. approval has had its results validated, exceeding the standards laid down by WHO. This is all good and a significant milestone for full approval, hopefully including home use. ATB

Not very significant, they have identified options that were not allocated in the period and added a few more to the pot.

I’d take it as a win but yes I would be disappointed that the govt. had not taken up the facility they helped fund that is sitting under their nose. Having said that I expect confirmation of the sovereign test @nd orders very soon but yes I have been expecting it for a while now.
