The way out is bringing the pandemic under control and then working to supress the virus as is done with other viruses, targed vaccination for travellers and wider community immunisation as with flu. Alternatively, BA is popping well on skyscanner.net especially for the flight combinations point to point. There are many gaps on the price grid showing there are a lot of missing reference fairs for all the late spring to summer months, so a bit of a trudge looking for cheapo options. When travel restrictions re self-isolation and quarantine along with pre-flight test are removed, it's going to be a huge rush for seats. I suspect the prices will go through the clouds [pun intended]

I normaly play with small caps that tend to have mining and petroleum interests outside EU. For example, a lth in JLP has recently paid off.

Thankfully the EU attack seems to have been shunted to one side wrt any focus on 'flag' carriers be they aircraft or otherwise. The consequences of the stupidity invoking the closure of the UK borde in NI now showing with some brewing trouble at the ports. EU may have to back peddle on their imposing of a border in the Irish Sea now the consequences of their actions becomes apparent. Whether the article 16 business was for real or just a distraction whilst the wider export ban on vaccines was imposed is a debate. The EU are still using the new unilateral rules to go back through 3 months of export forms looking for evidence to use to allow the blocking of future exports and the new rules are now in force to stop exports to the UK of vaccines and instead divert them to EU. That is all still there and still very active.
It matters because whilst there appears to be a change of direction or U turn, the hatred of UK and anything associated with the UK remains. It is just a case that the mask covering up the red eyes of bad Europe has been put back in place. In a short time we will find out if there is to be action taken based on dubious evidence concerning vaccine exports to date and the first instance of vaccines being denied an export licence and what consequences that will have.
I would expect the EU will try to engineer a tit for tat exchange of tarrifs and export/import bans. They have thrown the trade deal in the bin with the unilateral imposition of a completley new export qualification on vaccines specifically targed at the UK. BA, irrespective of where the parent company is, is not out of the woods and all my experience of the EU is they will continye to demolish and delete as much of the UK as they possibly can. It is not just the vaccine issue, they have been straining at the leash ever since the Brexit vote.
I very much hope I am wrong but I have worked with the people in the inner circle of the commission. It is a live project and very active - last week you had a glimpse behind the scenes. I wish I hadn't bought IAG now, I should have known better and focused soley on UK based, owned and independant companies that have no ties with the EU. Live and learn.

Let us hop ethe shennaigans of the EU are kept to one side with market sentiment. I hope it goes up but despite the very tonned downBBC coverage yesterday and today as if this was a minorwrong colour pen issue the EU attitude that came through 'when the masked slipped' might well impact on the sp. I'm not convinced myself that the extreme anti-UK part of the EU, bad Europe, has been put away yet. We will see - -hope for a positive day but will not be suprised to see bigger dips for the foreseable future.

The long Easter bank holiday is a week earlier than last year this year. I think there will be some destinations open, a limited holiday schedule of islands - There are good number to choose from. It might be possible some US states will open up to liited numbers with vacc passports. Getting a flight on short notice though given the number of carry over tickets and the market prices will be an issue. The latter spring bank holidays may be much more of a return to normal. I think virtually all travel from March onwards will require the passport, tests at airports or preflight will be removed as the money making scam that they are is given the full public expose.
But will the Brits be allowed to have a vacc passport? I do think we are going to have trouble with that. But on the bright side, Vegas is not in Europe so any retaliation by EU on UK over vacc supplies will have no impact on me :)

The only problem with this news artical on vaccination passport prospects is that it is being promoted by Blair. A fiver says he has investments in the company his 'team' are promoting to provide the passport.

Otherwise the realasiation that the quickest way to open up travel is through a vaccine passport is now widespread. Whether the Brits will be able to have one based on the delayed dose scenario remains to be seen.

I have spent a great deal of time going through many comment pages of all politcal colours looking for a sense of how the events have been percieved and how it could affect the 'sentiment' around the sp. ANd you need to pop down to Specsavers, I've already posted I havn't sold a bean. And if anybody were to buy or sell based on persons opinion, they are in the wrong game here. The point is, look for a range of opinions and possible new leads to follow up that may inform on whether to buy, sell, or look for something else to do to pass your time.

Haven't sold anything yet. Had presumed the last week or two were irritations delaying the inevitable. Sitting tight, and avoiding any losses. Just now my quick buck is turning into a delayed buck and things are likley now to look bloody awful in the very short term. But if IAG isn't split up by the EU forcing the ownership rule immediately and flying restrictions are not imposed just as the skies begin to open on suprious technical compliance issues and British travellers are not refused entry to Europe because the vaccine schedule is rejected by EU, then there shouldbe very good rewards, my current break even is 153.
