The lockdowns and restrictions around the world is simply posturing. It is about appeasing the gods of TV. Clearly, in many areas the 'experts' are still ruling the airwaves as a choice of the news editors. It is a vicious circle, once you promote one voice you are either stuck with it for vanity sake or you have to risk losing credibility questioning something that you once held up as gospel. The 'spell' of the experts has been broken by omicron and some good people in SA, at least in media zones like the UK. The inverse question has broken through the media wall and is out there and hence we have the apparent revelations that the experts have been doctoring research and loading the dice. To achieve such a shift is pretty momentus. I posted a few days ago, such a shift in the media narrative only happens once or twice in a generation. The biggest is of course climate change and one day the same thing will happen with open questioning of the experts but a huge amount of damage has been done in the interim and there is a great deal more to come.

We need the WHO to be directly cross examine the consensus that has been applied to omicron giving a lead to the mass media to do the same. Otherwise the social engineering developed on the back of covid is going to be institutionalized and very difficult to remove. I read a news piece the other day where some airline industry official was promoting the idea that masks would now be worn forever, irrespective of covid. The UK and especially those ministers who have stood up to the experts need to be given every support. The politicization of expert opinion is nothing new, but the way the narrative quickly condenses onto one argument [typically on the politically left] and remains stuck there where any cross-examination is attacked by all the woke and cancel culture does mean we are in a totalitarian regime. This is a rare breaking out, hope it spreads.

The battle lines are being drawn up. If the Imperial college report is doom and gloom with impossibly high numbers, there will be open warfare in the media with one set of experts saying one thing and another set another thing. It will expose that from the start there was never any proper expert advice, all the lockdowns and social restrictions were most likely meaningless, masks were the main spreading mechanism and Big Blue will be knighted!

You know, this website is now almost impossible to use. Even with pop up blocker on, there are multiple pop up boxes resizing the layout and the incredibly annoying video pop up on every screen refresh. I can not understand how such a complete car crash of a redesign ever made it live. The chat has been rendered actually unusable on handheld mobile devices, and I am really struggling with a laptop. It's like some school kid project which was half finished and they lost interest. This is about the worst web page with multi advert pop ups I think I have ever seen in the history of the internet!

jtan, profit taking, was perhaps a couple % higher at end than intended so profit taking pulling it back to give a retrospective 5% on yesterday. Bit of a spread across the sector indicating a mix of speculative position taking ahead of omicron results, and profit taking from yesterday.

Spar12, Not sure, depends a lot on the reports due today about omicron severity. If the various groups continue to form conclusions more on a political basis and exclude SA data, then it could be a pull back 5% because it will be assumed there will be extensions of lockdown. If we get a proper analysis based on data including SA then we already know what the SA data is telling us so could see +5% as early end to scilly travel testing will be on the cards.

BBC narrative pulled back a little to be 'sitting on the fence'. As I suspected, the lockdown lobby in the 'expert' community has been hitting back inistinting omicron is as bad as delta and trying to gain weeks more time for assessment, which means maintaining what control they have for as long as as possible. It is clear a group of these experts are using covid for social engineering but omicron has outed them. Defeating covid is now a fight against the actual virus, but also against the political community that have latched onto it. If they keep the upper hand, it will be climate change all over again with so called experts completely dictating your whole existence.

A typical example of what is going on all over the world, but definitely not being covered with prominence, if at all, on mass media. Still trying to bury the opposition to lockdown.

Will SAGE be disbanded? I am wondering if the misdirection over data is so bad that disbanding is put on agenda. Now there are open questions and bearing in mind some of the comments by other experts now, I wonder?????

Wait for the new year? Why? The science scam is busted, it is out in the open, the modelling is openly mocked by fellow scientists, ministers have rejected it, even the BBC is changing the narrative. There is nothing coming out of SA to suggest anything other than a mild flu. If flu was going to take you out before, then this is the same thing. 90% blocking beds in London aren't vaxed. Speaks for it self. And yes, what you are seeing with the experts is exactly what has happened with the climate change crap, exactly the same.

No doubt that VP will turn up in a moment and start waving his willy because IAG only managed a paltry 5.5% recovery. Well, we didn't get the Imperial data again. There are some other stats due for tomorrow so Wednesday looks like being the big data day. So the 8% jump will most likely be tomorrow then, hell - if I'm 2 days out, big apologies but you got an extra 5% or so in the interim. Jeezzz there's no pleaseing some people.

This is the crux of the problem. SAGE has been politicised, possibly from before delta. This extract from the MOL article from a SAGE member clearly shows they are political in nature and not plain experts. This is perhaps what has twigged some of the cabinet ministers to take more notice of what came out of SA.
