rep, not sure how much you have tuned into this BB but we have been screaming this info at each other for weeks. It is all down to bigotry towards SA. I suspect for many of the people involved in the science, medicine, media and politics they still have their heads full of apartheid and hate towards any white SA. Frankly, a huge number of people have been significantly impacted by the reaction omicron and it can all be traced back to the immediate dismissal of information from SA which is exactly what is finally being released now, although it is turning out to be a very tedious process.

Still trying to stop the spread of a virus, a virus that has mild symptoms. You couldn't make it up. The planet is going through the lockdown routine rather than admitting the pandemic is over. Moving out of the safe space is just too much.

I went to see the Terracotta Army near to Xian. Interesting old city, stayed in a hotel between the bell and drum towers, what a night view. Around the corner was the most amazing street food market ever - I bet it gets mentioned on the culture reports during the winter olympics. As for the Terracotta Army, it was an amazing site and I'd like to go back there again one day.

It seems the report tries hard to keep caveats that the very clear 50% reduction in being kept in hospital for just one night is to be lost amongst a large amount of waffle, if, butts and maybes. Spar, but would anybody take any notice of any new years eve policy. Frankly, most people will not be picking up the headline news for a while in holiday mode so a lot of people will turn up for the usual event and end up angry at any barriers. There's going to be a lot of trouble in London trying to restrict people in central London. They are going to have to literally curfew the capital because people are not going to comply as previously. ANd bear in mind, there is a lot time relative to the lifespan of omicron so far for stats to significantly decline leaving people asking why the restrictions? Scotland and Wales are also in for a very rough night for the panic response imposing restrictions. The opportunity to control a population has proven to be so irresistible they have latched onto the most incredible predictions and just can not control themselves. In England, nobody is going to listen to lockdown directives. The truth is out, there is a sound understanding of what omicron really is, people know exactly what is what for the first time and the restrictions imposed by political experts will be rejected in a big way. It is either going to be a merry new year celebration, or a load of fires, rioting and some dead bodies in the streets. Civil unrest must be a variable to consider.
