This is now being reported all over the place. It looks to me like Jinping has told Putin to stop it NOW. Putin trying to get something out of it saying if Ukraine lays down arms then talks can begin. But I think Putin has lost. I reckon he wants to ge some boots in Kyiv to prove something but time is running out before he is going to have to cease fire under the orders of the Chinese.

There was a story earlier I didn't post about the international court intent on pursuing war crimes. There was reference to some aggression treaty from 2018 I think but neither Ukraine nor Russia signed up to it so Russia can't be pursued on the invasion in the court. Ultimately if the Russian force is 'clean' there is no international law to get Putin was the tone.

There is already a great deal of shame on the EU over this whole saga, but now Putin is exposed as the mad man he is, the EU still pursues it's own selfish self-interests. SWIFT. Turn that of and Russia grinds to a halt in hours. The move against Putin would happen in the same time frame. The EU blocking the SWIFT sanction is truly disgusting. That one sanction would bring the whole thing to a halt in double quick time but because the system is based in Brussels, they don't want to lose the revenue or kudos. It is an absolute disgrace.

First call? Russians are not having a walk over, Kremlin a whispering gallery, the people are revolting and the rest of the army may not be as reliable as the special forces spearheading. Is Putin already backed in a corner? Even if he did 'take' Kyiv, how long can he control the situation?

Statements like this are circulating all over the Kremlin and military top brass. They will also be filtering to the Russian front line. Common to all these statements is the complete lack of diplomatic language.
