Just seen the video of the order Putin giving to senior command to light up nuke system. One was clearly not expecting it and had a brief animation of the arms, body language of significant inner conflict. Not at the order, but he has clearly considered what happens after the system is in alert mode. I suspect he knows the order is going to be given. Looking at Putin, he is delivering the order in the same matter of fact, bored with the due process, that he did with his junta just before the invasion.

He's not bluffing in mind. I get the tiny little messages from his manner.

Tomorrow is going to be a very long day.

For me the safe thing tomorrow is hope the fledgling peace talks on the border give the market a boost, then get out. If Putin doesn't resort to a rational ceasefire tomorrow, then the probability of him trying to use nukes is on the cards. If he is 'ill' and has managed to implement a secure and loyal chain of command all the way to the launch button - I think he will ensure his name is very definitely in the history books. A nuclear hissy fit.

BANG! That is now official from China and one hell of a kick in the teeth to Putin. China is definitely not happy and states negotiation several times. There is no 'understanding' of Russia's position.

Remember there will be military and politicians in the Kremlin looking at these words from China. Putin is in a corner. He must declare a ceasefire. I think he is going to try and wait until he can get into central Kiev and raise a flag over a landmark or something, but it will be heavy price in dead troops. I can not see either the politicians or the military going along with such a folly.
