Looks like the offer of aircraft was fake news, which is a relief, for the moment. I might be a fake flag ploy to justify taking the war to Nato, and fire of nukes. Higher probability Putin will use some small battlefield ones now. He presumes the west/nato are so terrified by them he can control the entire continent and beyond. Nato reply will be to nuke whatever location he is staying I would expect. I am confident the retaliatory strike has been planned already and the sub to launch from is probably already in position.

I disagree, I think with the level of sanctions applied, the extent of the back lash and the fact this is not against some rebellion/terrorist/faction group but close family of many Russians, things may turn around very quickly. Also, the images of the consequences of the action are very much more widely spread than anything before. Putin may have grossly miscalculated this, but there are plenty of generals for him to blame saying they were misinforming and misleading him and that the sudden peace was all thanks to him intervening.

Ceasefire has to be on the cards very soon for is supply lines to repair. Also, so many passive countries are actively rearming and siding against Russia added to those already in opposition and China beginning to sow irritation, an early break must be on the cards. Internally I cannot see so many who are able to stop him not doing so after he lit the nuclear fuse. That maybe his fatal error rather than trying to take Ukraine.

Deployment of fighter planes denoted to Ukraine operated out of Poland. It will claimed to be an extension to nato involvement and Putin will nuke in response. But that of course could be the plan. Clearly Russian forces are nothing they were feared to be. It will have been discussed at the highest level the inevitable involemento nato. The original position of nato has not opened restrictive military attacks, one/off ceasefires ect. A long drawn out occupation with multiple flash points over years to come is not a viable option.

I want to hear condemnation of attacks, such as were children are urt to come directly from nato. It will indicate a pretext is being prepared and in Russia continues with live fire, more children will be hurt, therefore a protective response is required. It'll take a week to get UN sanction.

But the east european states going it alone as suggested in the story is too open ended and without a command and control. Who sets the rules of engagement? Where is the autonomy to attack targets? What is the strategic objective?What is the end game? Who calls the ceasefire? There are a lot of complications involved with deploying any arms in the theatre.
