The issue with China is it has gone with a zero covid policy despite the previous proponents eventually abandoning the strategy [New Z, Aus] because you can not lockdown forever and you can not stop the spread of a highly contagious virus. It could be months before China gives. Covid continues to run rampant, but societies that have abandoned lockdown and even social distancing are not collapsing. It is just another ailment but there are vaccines for it. I is a bit of a surprise China went down this zero road and they will regret it.

Why would you build a port where you have to navigate the Siberian wastelands with serious hostile weather, then navigate around sea ice that some years will be impassable when an eastern sea route exists that has train access through much more accessible land to the east? Whilst the shipping route through the north east passage has some use I can't see a northern coast port being used much. Its bloody cold and hostile and remote up there. What's the name of this port?
