I'm not talking about the ethics either. The nuclear weapons are decayed rutinghulks. A limited number would deliver the yield. You are desperately trying the fear tactics of the cold war. It simply doesn't work anymore. That was over 30 years ago, 40 years at the height early 80s. 40 years of enriched uranium and plutonium decaying means most, maybe all, will not go critical. Only ones routinely maintained, strategic ones in the subs, would have a chance of delivering the yield. As has been demonstrated, the equipment is knackered old soviet era across the board much decayed beyond repair and large parts striped and sold off. The nuke threat is as empty as the great army threat. Russia has strutted around with this false facade, the mask has now fallen off (he straps were sold on eBay 10 years ago) and they are exposed for what they are. A sham, a fake and a fraud.

oh dear Captswag! re read what you posted and blush. Wiping out a country next to yours with nukes, even on the side of the world, would pollute your own back garden so you gain nothing. And if you have to fall back on nukes as an offensive weapon, you are a coward rather than a superpower.

As far as western weapons go, mpads to date mostly, old soviet era stuff from eastern Europe countries, and very revlcently heavier kit. Ukraine keeps begging for nato standard weapons and they ate not supplied, especially tanks and aeroplanes. Russia has had much more sophisticated guided missiles. The Russians ate not fighting nato kit, they are fighting their own kit. Soon, they may be up against nato kit and Russia will be offering an unconditional cease fire within the week.

When you consider there were already extensive units of Russian backed separatists armed to the teeth with heavy weapons, you'd think Donbas would be nothing more than raising a flag.

How can you not take control of areas you already had a proxy control of?
This is an absolute total disaster!

I think the only true turn around will be Putin removed from office. The scale of this is beyond any Waterloo or Armada failure. The facts are just draw dropping and the tearing down of Russia on a global stage can not go unanswered. Still on 60/40 Putin will not be taking the salute May 9th.

My sentiments too, its over. However I think Putin has the retirement due to health and imposing a successor option. As far as being handed over to the Hague, I see that as likely as Blair being handed over for GWII without UN mandate (although they were chasing MD that had been used to kill tens of thousands and SH as being evasive so a guilty verdict on a technical infringement of UN procedure would be hard to get).

Interesting article. Splits inside the Ukraine government? Some want to give up, some want to fight on? I think blaming Boris is a bit far fetched. Certainly the EU wanted Ukraine to just surrender. But the idea Boris is holding up peace talks would take some huge qualification. And given the damage from war, I doubt the Ukrainians are continuing just to keep grinding down Russian forces. Sounds like someone is spinning a position for themselves.

No surprise, so much kit is knackered there is little left to be free to return for a parade. And as for troops? Not many available given frontline commitments. This is a big giveaway as to how badly things are going, notmuch hardware left and troops dparce and traumatised. The are having to cobble together parde vehicles and men from the stores. What a mess.

I think the superpower label can be dropped now we have seen the Russian army circus in a battle with a western trained soviet armed army. Pitch Russia against nato weapon and it is game over.

The Russians think they won WWII, the Americans in Hollywood think THEY won WWII. The British actually held up the flag of freedom by declaring war on Hitler first, fought him all over Europe except from the Russian corridor, in North Africa, the Atlantic, and we took on the Japs in Asia and SEA. We used all the empires wealth upholding the principle of freedom.
