Over last week I read a number of reports that Russian nazis were actually responsible for some, if not all, of the attacks within Russia and especially at the army recruitment offices as a backlash against the prospect of being drafted. There was a map showing fire bombings all over the vast country.

Russia is a massive hotchpotch of ethnicities, wealth and extreme poverty, religions, affiliations and climates. Is the whole top heavy system about to collapse into a massive civil war under the strain of the response to the Ukraine war?

And the satellite states with some old scores to settle or territorial ambitions along ethnic lines. With Russia weakening by the day, time to make the move?

The wider picture is a real eye opener.

Rats fighting in a bag. There is in fighting behind enemy lines. Perhaps some of the acts of sabotage are not just the work of Russian home grown neo nazis. Chechens probably have a stronger bond with Ukrainians than Russians do making this a difficult war for them to fight. And how are the separatists liking there pretty little towns and villages being completely flattened and their families murdered by the 'liberating' billdozer?

You give a lot away not knowing the basic layout of the area. Mariupole is just down the road from the Russian border. Same with Luhansk which is being claimed as a major advance. It was already in the separatists area and next to the Russian border. Indeed, if you look at how the Russian border naturally encircles the Donbas region, the question perhaps that needs to asked is how the hell has Russia failed to take the region already and why is it losing so much manpower and hardware for an area largely taken by separatists to begin with.

It is clear the Kremlin propaganda over the latter part if last week gave the likes of the BBC to start promoting the idea if defeat and again try and push Ukraine and Zelensky into contemplating giving up but the actual situation on the ground isn't quite resembling the spin. If anything the lack of progress indicates a thumping great defeat is on the cards in the next day or two.

Logistics story popping up all over the place on editorially controlled sites. Also looks like the small advances are not quite being used as an exit point for the west support, quite the opposite in fact. I am expecting to hear Russian forces pushed back on some fronts this weekend. There is an issue with river crossings and Russian forces are still failing to get pontoon bridges established.

Didn't take long, logistics and supply lines to Donbas faltering. Reading around various reports, the hamlets and villages claimed as territory gained have been completely destroyed. This is liberation? Also, I note a number of reports talking about gains in the 'separatist held' areas. So to some extent the gains are actually moving on land already claimed. And what do the separatists think of their houses and villages being totally destroyed when they had de facto control to begin with?

The attrition rate is being reported as very high indeed for the Russians as well as for Ukraine.
With Russian neonazis and anti-war activists attacking behind Russian lines, signs of the supply lines running dry and an absolute slaughter of WWI proportions going on on the front line, I repeat my same question as over the last two weeks, how long before the Russian generals call it and stop the senseless killing of Russians and throw the towel in? We heard a very similar plea in public from some political committee or some such in the east (where a lot of the dead come from) and this will inevitably spread as the truth and extent of the slaughter continues. Again, you try to normalise this by saying there are two sides and both are obliged to participate in a compromise. That is fundamentally incorrect. There are not two sides. There is an aggressor and a defender. The defender can only respond to an aggressor. Ergo, only one party can stop the war. The aggressor. As long as there is aggression there will be defence. Remove the aggressor, the defender stops by default as there is nothing to defend against.

There are no grounds in any way to qualify casting Ukraine as an equivalent combatant. They are a defender. Only the aggressor is liable.
