Agreed. Carnival have a well-advertised strategy and plan which will achieve “investment grade status” by 2026. That will also mean the return of dividend payments. Looking forward to all that.

“Cost of sales” relates, I think, to something else, i.e. commissions to agents etc of which they have a huge number, some of whom get very large rewards, especially in the US.

The other thing that rarely gets noted is the cost of management which is a huge overhead. Nine sets of brand management plus the super-salaried and share bonused mob in Florida.

Carnival have always stressed that they do not hedge on fuel because the cost, in their eyes, does not out weigh other factors. They emphasise that they do better by controlling other elements.

Doesn’t seem to have done much harm. The SP doesn’t seem to be unduly affected by movements in the price of oil.

Couple of observations:

Mirabella increased their short position on 30th August. What was the price then? Do they actually know something? We are now down £2.50+ from only a few weeks ago - nearly 20%. Totally unjustifiable.

The CCL price here is not affected at all by trades in the UK. The volume just isn’t enough. Ergo, all down to the MM’s and their algorithms.
