The purpose of outsourcing was to reduce the costs and risk to the State. If the state has to effectively manage these businesses as well, then what is the point of outsourcing. It's like paying someone to come around to your house to do the cleaning. When they don't turn up you have to do it yourself and then they ask to keep paying the person who could not do the job. Transfer of risk and reward. Public money going into profits and dividends, so it should not go into propping up that same venture.

A quick look at the financials and you can see reasons for the drag on the sp. Profits last year as low as they have been for years. Debt higher in proportion to pervious years. Falling profits and rising debt are not great outward signs.

I was fed up of betting on smaller companies and suffering sustained drops. So opted for a steady share with decent income. -20% later. At least the smaller cap companies were more fun.

No one is talking a trade war, blockades etc. They are talking tariffs. So a 5% tariff on 13% of exports is not a huge amount especially when you consider that with the pound falling this has already covered for any potential tariff. The result will be EU goods becoming more expensive as the pound has already recovered much of its ground against the dollar. Barriers are unwelcome but they are not a damaclease sword hanging over the economy. Ps I voted remain and would do so again. But it is not all good or all bad.

I know the feeling most of my shares are in the position of recovering a loss. Its nice to be able to relax on this one. Dividend in the bag, 20% capital growth and a stop loss in place. At last one of them comes good.

It's OK found it. £700 million, so not too shabby an increase on the predicted price.

What was the predicted price?

I took the profit when I could, but missed out on this huge rise. Great for all the long term holders.

Ventured into positive territory. I'm still at a loss how the merger can happen at a lower sp than it currently resides.

Here's hoping. Didn't quite get in at the bottom but given the overreaction in the sp a few months back the dividend yield alone was too tempting to refuse.

My previous experience is that this is a decent hold. Don't expect to get rich overnight though.

Nice steady rise on no news today

I'll admit I'm at a loss, are we still in a bid situation? The sp has been above and below, not sure why it's still floating until the recommendation has been accepted or rejected. Its confusing my thoughts about whether to hold or sell at this current price.

As with any share it depends what timeline you have before you need a return on capital. For me I got out at 850. But the dividend is worth it if you have a longer time to hold than I do.

Well that dip was completely pointless. I wonder if they sometimes put out broker ratings to shake the tree. Get those out who have made a healthy profit and lower the buy in price for themselves.

Looking to buy into this on Monday so will be interesting to see where it goes

If they are looking at a figure of 5 billion swiss francs that only give about a 10% premium on todays price. You are likely to get 7% by just holding them for a year.

I already have a few of these, I'm a bit time limited on the capital so will have to set a stop loss soon. However they will be on my radar for reinvestment in the next couple of years.
