Why is it such a great idea to pay out all the cash when there's so much investment needed to drag us up to scratch. We are failing to deliver stuff BIG TIME. We desperately NEED more staff , new vehicles, some of which are an absolute embarrassment at best, absolute death trap at worse. You cannot hide behind the figures for ever. It's such a shame that they cannot paint a true picture of the situation.

Don't care why results look good. They only care that the SP is going up. My advice from the inside as it were, is ask your postie on their honest opinion of royal mail. Not 'are you busy' but 'how are you coping' . You'll get your answer as to the question of when to bail out, because the doo doo is gonna hit the fan at some point.

Built on very poor service (now not getting fined for) and a culture of bullying and harassment. If you're not delivering every day (as per the USO) which normally you would have received massive fines and are now not, of course profit will be up . Service most definitely is not up. CEO will be out and off to another company he knows nothing about before this one crumbles to the ground though. Feel very sorry for your postie folks. The future is not bright.

Exactly. You can plaster and paint a wall to make it look nice but if it's not structurally sound underneath you're gonna have problems further down the road. Anyone who either works for the company or is a customer on the recieving end like yourself, knows the real picture. In short, it's a mess. There may be trouble ahead.

Sorry, I was just pointing out that the company does not give two hoots if you work all the overtime going. I've seen it before, people work themselves into the ground , can't do the job anymore, go off sick and the management soon turn on them. Wherever his DOM is telling him, it's to encourage ponty to get him out the brown stuff. This company does not appreciate you, however hard you work. If you want to do 60hrs a week, do it but do it for your bank balance, not for a pat on the back from the DOM because in my experience 22 yrs, 95% of the time it will not be geniune.

Thefarend. sorry to hear we lost your Amazon parcel. I would say though, we would be the only carrier to not leave it on your doorstep like the Amazon drivers do. I'm forever knocking on peoples doors if I notice they are in , to tell them there's an Amazon pkt on the doorstep. Shocking service.

Ponty , I think he means that you are coming across as some kind of saint for saving Royal Mail in the pandemic ,when in truth , everyone is there for one thing , the money. I don't like to let my customers on my walk down either but end of the day , I do it to get paid and would never knacker myself up under the illusion Royal Mail will give a toss about me for doing it. Sad to say. There's only one good reason for doing more that your contracted hrs, and that is for your bank balance, not to 'help' Royal Mail out.

It's called LAT ,later acceptance time delivery. It costs rmg a bloomin fortune in overtime for staff to come in on a sunday and deliver it. No body really wants to work Sunday on overtime so they have to sweeten the deal. On a rural route I got £90 for 4 hrs delivering 18 parcels. Good for us but can't be making much from it as a company. They are mostly Amazon so god knows how much they pay to offload them onto us.

The harsh reality is that the world can't afford to clean up fossil fuel usage. if most people in the uk cant afford EV transition, how on earth is a third world country gonna do it? Everyone needs to be realistic but also do their own little bit. How many protestors have more than two kids? How many grow their own veg instead of paving their garden over and putting astro turf down? How many will be buying crap they don't really need this christmas (and stuff they do) ,made in and shipped from China? If the west is getting most of it's 'stuff' from india and China is about time their emissions became our emissions also, right? How many middle class people drive their kids a mile to school in their ego massaging SUV EV ? Thinking 'aren't I saving the planet, look at me'. Then plug their cars into the electric supply overnight not even thinking about where it comes from. If you want to be green , let the kids walk to school or better still ,because they are probably overweight , walk with them!
First problem, theres too many people in the world (seems to be a taboo subject that never gets addressed).
Second problem , an awful lot of those people are overweight over consumers , buying crap from all over the world that they don't even need (I know, I'm a postie!).
I'm relatively comfortable off but am still very reluctant to buy an EV that I can't go more than 300 miles in before stopping for hrs to recharge that will the depreciation will be massive on in 5 yrs time (would you buy a 5 yr old laptop or mobile phone?) because the tech will have moved on so much. As well as it costing 25% more to buy in the first place.

Ponty, sounds like your place was well overdue a revision if you've gone from always finishing early 'people now have to work their hrs' and 'posties at our place finishing 3hr early' think that's roughly what you posted. Now you're 2 hrs docket to finish your walk! Keep up the good work.

@JBTHISTLE, our office had its 'revision' in May. They put everyone's start time 15 mins later on 4 days. That was it. Shorter working week sorted. Except it isn't because no walks were changed in the slightest, so the ones who want it are claiming more overtime and walks are getting left in. So if what you say about offcom and September is true, expect fines ,if management are being truthful that is. Now we're getting even busier it's just common practice by many to just bring a couple of loops back daily ,alternate who gets post every day, of course, under the direction of the DOM and their Lino's.

No, I'm the desperate realist. Lol. I've written the money off like I said , that I put in here when I was starting out. It's a learning curve, some would say a rite of passage, to lose money on shares like these, before growing up and becoming a proper invester rather than a gambler. Each to their own. Hope it works out for some of you. Probably the ones you can spot a mile off that are ramping the price up. My advice, if you have 10% profit here, take it and run.

Lol, same old desperate ramping and deramping going on then. Just keep my 99% down 'investment' with trp just to remind me never to dabble in get rich quick AIM stocks. Especially oilers. Glad I've grown up now and only deal in real profit making companies. Oh well ramp away people, I may make it to 95% down lol.

Thanks Receo , I'm ashamed of the way management are treating the customer and have been doing since the pandemic started. Hiding behind covid to totally bypass the uso. Was a time when if you accidentally brought back or left in one letter you were done for willfull delay. That is a joke compared to what has happened the last 18 months. No wonder they are making money. I hold my head up high, I do my bit often putting 45hr weeks in to clear my too large walk.
Ponty, you must be in one of the offices they feature in the courrier, thats all I can say. Are you in London? No body been finishing early up our way for about 8 yrs or more. You must be nice and fresh for Christmas. We are already all on our knees.

Sorry to pour water on your fire but Royal Mail at the moment is a complete shambles. No way Christmas is going to go well. When offcom start taking notice of just how poor a service we are giving ,then big fines are coming our way. Having been in the business over 20 yrs I am ashamed and hate the way this once great company has become.

Staff shortages are not a new or covid related thing although covid has made the situation far worse. For a good few years when people leave they don't get replaced, the workload is moved to others in the form of lapsing or unenforceable overtime that those of a weak disposition get bullied into doing. Main difference since covid is that there seems to be a total lack of adherence to the USO. Short staffed? Never mind, just take the tracked and specials and leave the rest in for another day . This seems to be the new normal. Trouble with royal mail is that it is built on absolutely needing people willing and able to do overtime. If everyone there just worked their contract hrs the place would very soon grind to a halt. We have got a fair few new starters in our office recently, young kids mainly, cheaper for the business but how long they remain in the job is another thing. I very much doubt that there will be any posties still in delivery in their sixties soon, especially if they've been in the job a good few yrs. It's simply too knackering. From what we read about what our CEO thinks he seems very naive , living in cuckoo land or grossly misled by those beneath him as to the real situation in the trenches. All the best.

2023!!! Now on TUI website with free kids places. Comon let's get travel back to normal. Sensible getting some deposit cash in the coffers. Also if enough book now ,come 2023 they won't have to discount to fill holidays up either.
