How many of those 150,000 (headline grabbing figure) deaths were nothing directly to do with covid though? Yes, they tested for covid in the previous 28 days but how many would have died without covid? A fair few i would imagine. I am far from a disbeliever conspiracy theorist or even an anti vaxer but those figures have been stretched and manipulated to get the public to do what was required there is no doubt about that.

Maybe they can see the SP rocketing so need to buy quick while it's lower? Would prefer bigger increase in div myself, that's what a lot of shell holders rely on.

Wolfbag, yes I remember we were always getting fined by ofcom. Managers were constantly going on and briefing us on the quality figures trying to hit 98% of first class delivered next day or such like. Couldn't be further from that now. Letters ,1st class or not , are the last priority to get delivered. Interestingly , against all the odds, our office was almost cleared Christmas Eve. Seems there was a big drive to do that. Although quite a bit was brought back as the office was running on Saturday times and closed at 4pm. As it was mega busy (after a relatively quiet preceding two days) people didn't have the time, or probably the inclination or willingness to stay out later and complete. Not so for New year's Eve, when there were multiple walks left in , it'll be tomorrow or day after when that gets delivered. Order of priority to deliver now is, specials, all tracked, non tracked pkts and lastly ,letters (including 1st 2nd class and signed fors (recorded). Looks like 2022 will be off to a start of no change to the appallingly bad service we provide, especially as all temps and agency have been let go under management orders.

Any fund raising needed for this as it's ripe for a placing at the increased SP we've seen today.

Both ups and Deutsche have around 3x the number of employees than royal mail. As you said, their mkt caps are vastly larger than RMG. Employee renumeration is a major major cost to RMG relitavly speaking. Just a thought.

When you say, thrown around, how much? Obviously manual sorting requires packets to be taken from one shroud and thrown into another, that's how it's done in royal mail anyway.

Don't know about travel bans but it would lead to mass rebellion on the streets. No way the public is gonna accept another lock down. If they think it's that bad, lock down tomorrow , oh hang on though, that would make an already floundering PM look even worse.

Watched sky news tonight, don't usually. They do seem to be very pro scare the nation! They played clip of Boris and didn't even pickup on the 780,000 cases gaff. They certainly have some agenda.

This country (UK) is a joke. We're talking about even more restrictions and the latest infection rates are actually falling. Hospitalisation, down, deaths, down. These scientists are revelling in this new variant, another shot at the limelight just when it looked like they weren't needed anymore. This stuff is getting more and more political and it stinks. NHS was under pressure before covid, they are just using covid as a sob story to scare people and mask the fact that there was little or no slack in the NHS to start with as it is so badly run by those in charge. The scientists and politicians won't know what to do when we finally have to realise that covid has become little more than the common cold. All IMHO of course.

Well JB, my office is not on the most impacted list and looking around when I went in today, there's about 15% of walks not gone out ,apart from the normal ' take the tracked' mantra. Probably about 7 yorks of pkts that won't get done today. And we must be a reasonable office not on the list.

Thank you for your concern ,Commonsense. I'm afraid I too have to say that management will not sort this mess, and it is a mess, out. Any sensible investor will also take the views of the boots on the ground, so to speak, rather than just listen gleefully to the guy at the top. Believe me, he is hopelessly out of touch and when he realizes he can't change the business with the budget he has, then he will no doubt get a golden handshake and move on to another company he knows sod all about. The BIG problem with royal mail is that nobody who makes any sort of decisions talks to the people who would most likely know how those decisions will work out. Revisions for example. I'd like to share your (blind) optimism , I hope that's not too strong a phrase, but with respect from what I see, it's really not going very well and covid will not be a shield to hide behind for ever. Made me chuckle when the woman refered to the shxt show that's happening as ' the festive mailbag '! Lol. Ponty. I know. Why do we take mostly Amazon stuff on Sunday? Anyone know? Anyway alot of it went back to mail centre to try again tomorrow, not enough staff willing to come in on Sunday for an extra £5.86/hr when you're pretty nailed from doing your delivery all week. Oh well, the LAT Amazon stuff got precedence over the ' normal ' Royal Mail stuff which has been sat there since Thursday.

Always seems to surprise them every year. Annual leave ban from first week of December, in theory 1/6 more staff ......and they fail to hire more vans. Parcels are starting to pile up at our office now so that should please everyone here. Christmas pressies for Christmas? That's so 80's . We're the new Royal Mail, we'll get em to you sometime in January. But that's okay with the public and posters here I'm sure. Covid and all that, we'll make exceptions.

If the jokers in charge want to do this, the least they can do is pay for everybody's PCR tests.
