There are plenty of alternative products in the domain and there will be many more this time next year. The real reason for the extension was probably lobbying by vested interests. That would also be the real problem this time but I don't think they'll get away with it again IMO.

I agree with Nigwit that it's ridiculous to write off display in the long term ddubya as there will be several product cycles each with different winners and losers. There are also some reasons for optimism in the short term...

- While I can envisage that some of the products in development with Nanoco might not make release or might suffer from a dot switch I can't imagine they all will. I'm sure the majority will make it to market (in their own sweet time).

- The cadmium ban is still coming.

- The more QD display products that do come out the less likely it is any one supplier will be able to fill global demand and. Nanoco is bound to get some and we don't need much to have a positive effect on the SP.

I would like to understand more about these technologies ddubya. I'm sure all will be revealed as details of our contract emerge. However, the other side of the coin here it seems to me is that Apple have a technology with IQE that can recognise people perfectly well without any nano-particles. I believe they are working on increasing the power of their VCSELs to scan areas around an iPhone and not just the user's face. Maybe that's what they'll put in vehicles.

Highly speculative though as the vast majority fail. If sentiment was better around Nanoco delivering we may see higher value from this potential. I think it'll take some more time to show in the SP myself.

These uses are so far off though Mars1. Intrigued to see what the commercialisation effort with MIT comes up with.

Early days with not very much money behind it. Would need a large amount of infrastructure. It sounds like a very optimistic plan to me.

I bought in for the long term but the competitive landscape has changed since then. While I think that the various LEO projects will face hurdles and delays; and their plans are optimistic; there are enough of them and backed by serious enough players (the Chinese government for example) to be a real threat medium to long term. That said, demand for bandwidth will likely be exponentially more than predicted so maybe all boats will happily stay afloat. Will have to see how things look when my price is reached.

I have no idea why we've had a good week. Throughout the recent weakness I've thought the company stronger than the valuation and so maybe it's just recovering a bit. They keep announcing new contracts after all.

Then again Echostar bought a load of stock and haven't sold it. It looks to me as though the company is uniquely attractive to them though for spectrum reasons. I'm not sure anyone else will come in.

I'm afraid my opinion of Brexit is that it will be devastating for the British economy. The effects will be chaotic. One of the reasons to be invested in Inmarsat is that very little of it's income is generated domestically. It acts as a hedge against weak sterling and has something genuinely valuable to the rest of the world. Such companies will be very difficult to defend and may well be snapped up by foreigners (RIP ARM). There's an irony there somewhere. Anyway, we'll see what happens. We're all just along for the ride on that one now.

I think most here expect a good short term boost to the SP once more details emerge of the US partnership with an additional potential boost dependent on display market numbers in the next report. Long term there are multiple markets to look forward to.

Apologies if already posted. However, the point that caught my eye was that Echostar are only locked out for 6 months if nothing material changes. If another bid comes in they can make a counter offer. So, Echostar are still very much in play.

I have no evidence to back this up but a thing in my head telling me that the next milestone payment was expected in August. Which would tie up with meeting the milestone at the end of July.

He may well think no other bids will come in and he can have another go in 6 months. If someone does offer more in the meantime he'll make a mint with his 6%. What's that 6% for though? Is it just a way to win win (get the company or a profit) or is it part of a strategy to keep the bid going in the meantime? It will be interested to see if he keeps buying and whether he's trying to build a significant stake at these low prices to get a significant vote in the future of the company either way.
