Bloomberg opinion tech columnist reported that Lumentum executives confirmed at a conference yesterday they hadn't lost market share with their customer but that yesterday's announcement was due to macro issues and previous inventory build. So, should reverse assuming the iPhone isn't dead and will hopefully be just a blip.

Well, that wasn't fun and since it's an impact to the current quarter not a very nice Christmas present.

Since it's a customer reducing then I assume it's Apple related and not the supply chain shifting. These drops are usually overdone so I would expect a bounce but to lower levels than before until, 'Materially affect,' Is quantified and either the demand replenished from elsewhere or we do get those record holiday sales reports. Either very possible.

I wonder if this is trade war related and the Chinese just aren't buying American at the moment.

I didn't think the results were bad at all. Nothing that would drive the SP up to the next level either mind. However, as margins return to normal over the next couple of years surely it'll recover to old highs.

If Biome do work with the university I'd be confident they would be a commercialisation route down the line. It's the kind of thing that makes me feel good about the company's long term prospects but doesn't add any value now.

If they're based in Southampton they probably are. Are they linked to the uni?

I'm not sure hollow fiber optics are mass produce-able yet. I would think as the technique leaves the lab it will move to a commercial operation like Biome. Looked very complex and very hard to make but increases data transfer speeds by 30%. Will be worth a lot of money.

One was shown on the telly last night (BBC4, The Secret Story of Stuff) at Southampton university. Impressive bit of kit.

More impressive is the new hollow fiber optics. Maybe Biome can get involved.
