Bug chunk but fewer than last year if I remember rightly. I might be wrong.

I would be worried if was a one off. ME sells every year at the same time though. Whether the company is doing badly or well. It wasn't a break in the pattern.

Not read that one no. If it's just delayed until 2020 maybe the cancellation will be cancelled and the extension re-extended next year :-)

Given the actual information released by the company one could easily show that the whole article is incorrect. Looks like a bunch of people putting 2 and 2 together and getting 129. The whole thing is "according to." However, that doesn't mean it's wrong. Depends on what credence one put's on the company's communications. They've also been couched in fogginess to protect sensitive contract details. Here's what I think...
- Apple was never confirmed as the partner by anyone.
- The original contract was for novel 2D nano particles. That doesn't preclude QDs but I don't see why a QD company wouldn't say so if they were.
- A brand new production facility was built. The contract couldn't be fulfilled using the existing QD facility.
- ME hinted in an interview it was to enhance IR sensors for use in vehicles but that IR sensors had many different applications.
- The contract extension was for an undisclosed product but it's actually extremely unclear if it was for the same product / new phase of the production facility build out. To me at least.

People have to draw their own conclusions based on imperfect evidence. I'm sure IP resulting from NANO's work belongs to them though. Wider IP for the partner's product I'm sure would be theirs.

For what it's worth I don't think we are going to get very far trying to find alternative uses. Development like this is bound be highly tailored for the customer and product in question. Hope I'm wrong.

Yeah few corrections here...
- The "Apple" contract was nothing to do with the "Display" business stream.
- It was a contract for novel nano particles. Not QDs.
- The IP is NANO's. I recall at the time the contract details were announced not only that but being pleasantly surprised that exclusivity was also not locked down. Although there was a clause to prevent use of the particles by other companies for the same purpose.
- NANO owns all the IP for Display.

I haven't bought any ddubya. This drop has just wiped out any profit I'd built up over the years.

I've been in this one for years. Traded it all the way down from £1.50. Over 100 trades. Adding up the profits and losses; and value of current shares quite miraculously I'm break even at 11p. While the current price gives me nothing to show for all that time and effort it does give me a relaxed feeling overall.

Not being able to time the trough, peak and trough of a dump, pump and dump and given the current predicament of the company I've decided the best approach is to see what happens. I hope you all drive it up further. I'd like to buy in and lower my current shares average but will wait to see if a placing happens. If so I'll get in at that price. If on the other hand new contracts are announced with enough upfront payments to keep the bank manager from the door or revenue starts coming in from Dow, Wah Hong, Plessey, etc will make a new investment decision based on the new fundamentals.

I think that's a better balance of risks for me than trying to catch a wave.

I agree with BtBs analysis and the Directors Talk view that current market cap greatly undervalues the sum of the parts but I don't necessarily think the SP will rise until there is clarity over the financial viability of the company. The MoneyAM piece for the Mail was not good by the way. Superficial analysis. Everything in that article has been true for the last 5 years at least but company has failed to capture any share of the valuable multiple markets.

The company has money until the middle of next year. Any company in that situation will raise new funds at least 9 months in advance of bankruptcy which leaves very little time to make money here before the financial situation is resolved.

They make it clear that none of the various opportunities still open woll be commercialised within a year. Anyone who's followed the story here long term knows also that any new contracts will take multi-year development before they stand a chance of making any serious money.

We're back to display. NANO has so far lost the battle to be a supplier of film. They are now concentrating on next-gen (few years away) technology. The ROHS ban may resurrect the company's prospects of putting some commercial film based display products out there but nothing so far has indicated that it will.

and this next round of tarrifs are the first that will hit it's products directly.

I think the trade war has a lot more to do with this cancellation than Apple will admit. The camera will have been fully costed last year. I think Apple is in a great deal of trouble. It can't easily move supply chains, is losing it's only significant growth market and can't keep pushing ever more expensive handsets on people.

This is 100% Trump and his childish approach to life. The general slowdown in smartphone sales was already included in this year's guidance. No doubt he's done lasting damage to the whole market, IQE specifically and will make us all wait another year or two for technological advances that were due to happen now. However, he will cave to China as the election approaches which will trigger a relief rally even if we don't completely make up lost ground.

When we do get back to business as usual there's no need to think anyone other than IQE will be driving the technology. Unfortunately we have to wait another year or two to get back to where we should be now.

There's that single customer risk! We said it at the time so I'm not going to cry over spilt milk. It is painful though. Something in me was saying, "Well they won't spend all that money without bringing a product to market," But let's face it a company like Apple probably 20+ projects of a similar size going on at any one time usually none of which result in anything.

I also think self driving cars are still very much a pipe dream. At least 10 years away. So maybe this was the most likely outcome.

I think today's drop is justified. The company has no real income stream. NANO's patent potfolio is no doubt impressive but patents are notoriously difficult to value and now all eyes turn to whether the company can keep going without raising new funds. Only surprise could be a take over. I think that would come under 20p unless at least one commercial opportunity opens up.

Looks like our 2019 H2 has been Trumped! Can't say I'm surprised. Bumpy road for the rest of the year. One more year to wait for real growth.

I think I replied to you Scampthedog but didn't really give you short shrift. Just put forward a different poitn of view. No one thinks the Chinese way of working doesn't have problems but they would argue that even though their work force are cheap they've raised 1.4 billion people out of poverty and that we should all be happy abut that. How do we move forward? Trump's approach is what's wrong. Rather than work with allies he's punishing them at the same time. Rather than bringing up genuine grievances he's making up charges based on insane economics and false claims of espionage. He's making the US look like the bad faith actor and therefore not getting the coalition together he needs. Trump has already made the request for other countries to stop using Huawei products, several times, and we haven't yet.

The best approach there has been on the table to start to change Chinese behaviour that is genuinely out of order (stealing IP and opening up their economy) was the TPP. He pulled out of that simply because, "Obama did it." He doesn't have the skills, intelligence or stability of mind to do well in this fight.

Speaking completely selfishly HSBC shases are about the best place for one's money should that scenario play out. The UK economy will shrink and standard of living go down but with HSBC not recording much if any profit here and dividends paid in dollars it's very resilient.
