Hi again - well, one good thing about me calling this one right - check previous postings - is that I have now emptied the piggy-bank and topped up - todays fall is clearly overdone and we all know it will bounce back soon - RUSTYBUCKET - sorry to disappoint you but I have understood that any post 4.30pm deals noted are merely balancing the books kind of situations and are not real buy/sells - Cheers - Rory -
Hello Gents and Ladies....well, sorry to have called this one absolutely right - please check previous three postings if in doubt - and that was against a back-drop of 9/10 posters reckoning this would shoot to between 52p to 56p by now - I am not a wise old owl for no good reason - That said, there is, quite frankly, not much wrong - is there - with the overall performance - It just needs a feeling of more affluence to become reality together with a stronger feeling of job security and ths little gem of a recovery play will soar - that I feel is still a couple of years away - but plenty of potential fun and profits along the way for those that remain calm and measured - talk to you all again soonish - GLA - Cheers - Rory -
Thanks for that - US Retail figures ahead of expectations can only help the SP - Good Luck All for tomorrow - will not add further to my previous couple of postings - overall, quite exciting times should lie ahead for the patient investor - Cheers - Rory -
Hi - You're a very cheeky boy - I'm not sure that it is about the law of averages - it is, sadly, just a real time fact - pressure on margins is the big worry for Dixons investors, of which I am certainly one - would prefer not to have to state such points, but it is soooo relevant to the issue - imagine there was no competition - their prices could be double and they would still sell much the same ! - GLA for the 16th - sticking by my caution of a possible downward trend, albeit temporary, following the results - Cheers - Rory -
Hi All....all regulars on here will know I am a great fan of Dixons - However, I must agree with one or two recent posters who fear the SP will drop on results day - the numbers will all read rather impressively re actual sales etc. but it will only need Sebbie to state that the coming year will be a challenging one due to - and here we go again - a tight squeeze on margins due to the endless fashion nowadays of heavy discounting from rivals and On-line, for this to see a pretty significant fall - However, this fall will, I believe, be temporary - Dixons now seem to know what they need to do to attract a greater market share - see excellent posting re the Harrods tie-up - so, all in all, I do not agree that this must just keep on rising when the results are announced - good results are already factored into this SP - it will need something extra special to see this one move northwards - hope our friend Oppie does not still think I am trying to short this one, Bless - but it is certainly one for the future but be ready to be disappointed on the actual results day - that said, I will be delighted to be proved wrong on this one - Cheers - Rory -
Hi All - this really is fast becoming a really tricky one to call - I am still poised to pop back in but feel, as does DRAX , that this may have a little further to drift on the back of disappopinting sector sentiment - it must be remembered that whilst the sector is rather weak at the moment, Dixons is surely one of the few shining lights within - confirmation of strong Christmas trading should give this SP a firm boost - it will be surprising if the trading update is anything but positive, but, and here we go again - it is the pressure on margins that is the main cause for concern - not the actual sales figures of how many tablets etc. have flown out of the stores etc....the new fashion of punters waiting for the best possible discount price is a bit of a worry - however, at least Dixons sell what people really want, which they will always be able to find the money for - as long as Dixons can match rivlals at fair prices, they should still thrive especially as they are able to secure a good suplly of these must-have items from the manufacturers - It would certainly help if the public were more confident of their jobs being secure - again, the latest trends towards down-sizing the work-force and zero hours work, is not good for confidence - it will all slowly come good but a genuine recovery in peoples feel-good factor is what is most required to change things around within the retail sector - I do feel that the 52p plus will happen within the next few weeks - then it is all about seeing if the confidence to spend and spend has started to return to the high streets and, of course, on-line - once that comes to fruition for absolute real then the sky is the limit for such shining stars as Dixons - bring it on - Cheers - Rory -
Hi All - yes, it is indeed the 16th , Thursday of next week - I am still poised to pounce - was taken by surprise following the sharp rise after the NEXT announcement - I have then hung on for what I believe will be a gradual drift for the next day or so - now fancy a re-entry of around the 47.50p/48.50p mark - then all fingers crossed for the 16th - an interesting consideration is whether the trading update meeting expectations, but no more, will now boost the SP or slightly depress it - any thoughts please - spellmaster - I can just about live with you now that you seem a bit more human - how about Dice/Die - Rory -
Happy New Year to you - now sod off - a busy week for the retailors - the city boys do not seem to be too optimistic for most of the post Christmas trading updates - this negative sentiment may well drag Dixons down, quite without justification, so a possible good window of opportunity for a top-up - talk to you all again soon - Cheers - Rory -
OMG - eye thort eye tolled yew to styck yoor hed upp yoor bak pasage wey - waz itt Eatton ore Harowe thatt turnned yew ought lyke thiz ? - to all the normal guys on here, yes, January 16th should have some great numbers revealed - just need to pray for some better margins during the coming year - Cheers - GLA - Rory -
Hi - nice to know that these things happen to other people !! - I have a good friend who was in TC at 42p - could not believe their plunge to 14p - when it soared he quickly got out with a tiny profit, all smiles - then you know the rest - yes, I cannot see any chance of Dxns going under - they sell what people crave for and must have, and should therefore be reasonably safe - but pressure on margins is the big factor here - if there were no competition you just know their prices would be double and they would still be selling !! - Cheers - Rory -
Hi - good to hear from you again - yes, I think I have grasped the point you are making - This Jan16th update is a very tricky one to call - we all know that sales will be very sound - but, and here we go again - tight margins are the main cause for concern at the moment - If the update is rosy then I believe it would be wise to stay for the ride - if it is not well received by the markets then I would be tempted to pop out again and look for a re-entry at any price that is both lower than the sell and which I feel was now close to the bottom line - Oh well, if only I had aTardis - Cheers - Rory -
Hi All - well, I suppose I could make a name for myself by saying I bought back in at around 47 ish just for todays rise to kick in almost immediately thereafter - BUT , sadly, it would not be the case - I really did fancy this one to drift a wee bit more, especially with the help of the DJ big fall last night - I was most peeved to see that Dxns then sat at the top end of the Winners board due to an unexpectantly upbeat statement from NEXT which gave the whole sector a giant kick up the pants - so, do I now give up on the 47.50 kind of re-entry point - definitely yes - I am always happy nowadays to follow the money when a stock starts to take off rather than stay on the sidelines, hoping for a plunge that may never now come, than to miss out on the party ! - so, on Monday I shall be hoping to pop back on board - see you all at the end of the ride !! - Cheers - Rory -
Hi All - to buy at 47.50 or not to buy at 47.50 - that is now the question - I was hoping for a re-entry point of 47.50p which has now come to fruition - The main problem I am now faced with is whether or not to hold out - bit risky - for an even lower price - The markets will certainly be on the back foot come the morning after the big fall on the DJ - This could well drift for a while now as the sector seems to be under a wee bit of pressure, mostly due to the margins issue - However, I also believe we will see a useful bounce back come the trading update - not all retailors had a disappointing Christmas trading period and I believe Dixons will still prove to be one of the shining lights - will hang on for a possible 46p ish re-entry - any thoughts on this point - bytheway, exactly what date is the update due - Cheers - Rory -
Hi All - Happy and Prosperous New Year to you all - well, in one of my latest postings before my wee break away, I said 47.50p was about right for my re-entry - we are now at exactly this level - an interesting situation - mixed messages are coming from the Retailors - I note that the LSE headline summary for todays trading states that Retailors gave the FTSE a boost - I appreciate that DXNS is not a FTSE 100 share but it is still a little worrying that this stock took a substantial hit today - I am now hoping that expectations for the post Christmas trading update have been somewhat lowered and that the SP may actually rise when the markets are pleasantly pleased with what DXNS then announce - this really is becoming a tricky one to call just at the moment - still fancy this little gem of a recovery play - and yes, MANWITHNONAME you have my permission to borrow my words - still believe this stock will reward those who are staying long - but short term we still need Mr Average to feel more confident about retaining their jobs and feeling under less pressure to let loose with the dosh, as a consequence - Job insecurity is now a major worry for so many at the time of talking - jobless figures may be going down but largely because of zero hour jobs which are of no real use whatsoever at making people feel secure..... Margins are still a major concern in the present market place - loads of sales but profits are soooo very tight - Oh Well - Cheers - Rory -
Hi - you are welcome - do you own part of Man City ? - Cheers - Rory -
Hi - My apologies for grovelling, but have just read you latest posting and would have to say I agree with virtually all of its content, especially the latter section - Cheers - Rory - HAPPY NEW YEAR - whoops that should read HNY - you can tell I'm over 30 !
Hello my dear clueless friend - it's always highly amusing when a new chap on the block comes our way and suddenly knows the ways of us all - Ho Ho Ho - - I've been on here for years and have never talked in a way that suggests I am short on this stock, nor indeed done anything towards achieving such - strange thata poster trying to short goes for weak BUY rather than Strong Sell - - do try and get up to speed on where I am and others are at - at the moment nobody cares about your wholly inaccurate guesses - no body cares - zzzzzzzzzzzzz - Manics and Bri - nice to hear from you again Bri - still hoping for this to pop down to around 47.50, hopefully, then I will be very happy to jump back on board - always assuming that that is alright with our new friend Opium - if it's not Oppie , then do please advise and I shall await your further instructions as to how I may be allowed to proceed without offending ones good self - bytheway, does anyone know where Donalds trousers are ? - Wishing you all, and yes let's include our new friend Oppie, a Very Happy and Prosperous New Year -
Hi - Hope all the regulars on here managed to have a great Christmas period despite not being able to locate various bits from Dixons ! - It is interesting to note that the SP has once again drifted southwards on the back of the news that the Christmas sales were record breaking for the group - therefore, it really must boil down to margins once again - why else should a fall take place following record sales figures ? - The margins issue will stick with us for a while yet - far too many people are determined to only purchase a bargain - yes, we all like bargains but when times are tight and peoples jobs are constantly under threat, then the amount of bargain-hunters soars - that means they delay buying until they think they have the best price - hence the big squeeze on margins - yes, sales are flying but the margins are so tight that it remains a serious threat to Dixons overall performance - Still like this one a lot, but will only be looking to pop back in at a slightly weaker SP, probably 47.50 sounds about right - do not just assume this one will fly once the post Christmas trading results are aired - there is sooooo much high anticipation for these that they will have to exceed expectations to have any chance of the SP going northwards thereafter - let's not forget that this little gem was just 12p some 15 months or so ago - so there has already been a massive rise - worth bearing in mind - it will start to climb again, but we will need to wait for something extra juicy to come along in the not too distant future - hopefully - Cheers - Rory -
My Dear Manics - What a wonderful response to my olde, wise words of wisdom dribble !? - although I do not envy the fact that you probably support numerous spots to your cheeks and buttocks and are, maybe, a trifle moist behind the ears , I have to say that I do very much take on board the points you make - things are indeed much, much faster and different from my early days and would agree that the data now instantly at hand is a massive advantage - anyway, there are few good things about being an olde trout - one is that you don't remember your losses - but I have helped some posters in recent years to make a small packet for which they have been most grateful - don't forget my friend, older people are simply people that used to be young but who have now been around for many more years and so really do know stuff for real - yes, the methods of making money have changed for the better, but the oldies still know a thing or two which the youth of today could still benefit from, if only they would choose to do so - Cheers Manics, speak to you again, hopefully - bytheway, have found the car keys - they were in the tumble-drier - The Olde Knowing Trout -
Morning All.....well, here I am urgently requiring some milk and eggs and can't find the sodding car keys - anyone got any clues - thanks - The Urgently seeking car keys Kid - Formerly known as the Knowing Kid and even the Opinionated Kid - Phew - no, still no joy - but at least I am still sticking to my very fair and well thought out priniples !!!
