Cobus Loots, CEO of Pan African Resources, on delivering sector-leading returns for shareholders. Watch the video here.
Hi - be very careful of reading much into these massive post 4.30pm sells and buys - they are usually just balancing the books trades - I used to make the same error - your ' hate doom merchants ' comment is a bit missing the point - there is no good burying your head in the sand just because you own some shares in them - I am no doom merchant on this stock, infact exactly the opposite - regulars on here will certainly confirm that to be the case - but the SP performance is becoming frustrating and that is simply a fact - why is this - DYOR and you will start to discover that this stock is clearly under pressure from very tight margins due to big competition as per my previous posting - Good Luck with your holding - it should pay dividends soonish, if you will forgive the pun - but this is not now looking like the rosiest of stocks as I had previously thought - would love to be proven wrong with a sharp rise to 60p then 70p but the recent past performance of this share does not indicate that this is imminent - does it ? - Cheers - Rory -
Hi again...my other concern at the moment is that this merger plan is almost certain to be subjected to the Monopolies Board - no, not where you pass go and hope someone lands on your hotel on Mayfair - but the one that considers whether, or not, to allow mergers which may be very bad for competition within that particular sector - this could well put a large spanner into the works - have to agree that the SP on this little baby of mine is definitely frustrating - good news flow seems to trigger a modest rise which is then all but eroded within a fort-night or so - I am not so keen on this one, at the moment, as I have been - competition is certainly fierce - but Dixons still have that hugh high street presence which is a big factor in their favour - but with John Lewis, AO, Carphone - at present, Tescos, Amazon and even Argos to a small extent, then you have to start to realise that the much touted £1 by the end of the year really is still a rather distant hope - only buy into this one, at the moment, if you are happy with all of the new facts surrounding their most recent trading position whilst bearing in mind the strong competition that is still out there - Comet disappearing is well factored into the SP so is now a rather meaningless factor - still fancy them to rise from here over the next six months, or so, but less sure about this being a sure fire one-way bet to riches for the time being at any rate - Cheers - Rory -
Hi All...some of the regulars on here will know that I normally call this one right - my pre results posting on Jan.16th is a good example, or Manics will hopefully confirm !? - However, at the risk of surprising a few, I have temporarily popped out of this favourite stock of mine and banked a sensible profit - The merger news etc. is now out - I have ridden the rise that this has created and have waited for the first sign of a slight re-trace which occurred earlier today - yes, it then went up a wee bit, but there we go - I have to consider just what is now more likely, a small rise from 51p+ or a small fall to around the 48p mark ? - I believe a small re-trace is the more likely possibility until some further concrete news is forth-coming - which could well be quite a little while with them both having till March 24th to have further discussions - I will of course be piling straight back in just as soon as things hot up again or as and when the 48p figure is reached - this is my little baby - but sometimes I quite fancy a brief change - am very keen on CEY at the moment - if legal ruling goes their way in March then it really could fly and the gold price is now looking strong - risky but exciting - anyone any thoughts ? - Petra Diamonds also looks a hot bet for medium term holders with the short term also looking somewhat promising - any suggestions to make me rich before I snuff it - am now in my 104th year - damn it - Cheers - Rory -
Hi - can recommend The Share Centre - pay £24 every 3 months and each deal is only £7.50 which is well worth it if you are into bigger deals - otherwise forget the 24.00 and just do each deal at what I believe is just 1% with a minimum of £7.50 - This may be a wee bit out of date so have a chat with them on 01296 414141 - Cheers - Rory -
Hi All - up 6.66% - What the Devils going on !!! - Luv Rory - ps... anyone any thoughts on COMS and Snoozebox ??
Hi All...many thanks chaps for those kind comments and observations - I have said it before but one can only agree with DRAX that this BB is surprisingly lacking for such a buzzing little gem of a recovery play that is now beginning to motor - the downer today was wholly predictable - what goes up and up is always going to be prone to the odd bash of profit-taking, especially on weaker overall market days - the medium term for this stock is outstanding in my humble opinion - whoops sorry, that should have been IMHO - you can sure tell I'm over 35 - indeed 104 beckons - will I or will I not make it to the next set of results - Phew, well my afternoon rest is now looming - hope I wake out of it ! - Cheers - The very often knowing, but not always - Rory the Olde Kid -
Hi All....and especially my dear olde friend DRAX....many thanks to the poster who quite correctly stated yesterday that I was the one that called this one correctly when stating, against all the odds, that it would fall on results day and then drift thereafter for a short time - anyway, it is the least you would have expected from moi - the main point here is that this stock now has the force with it - too many investors know they are on to a potential killing by sticking for the ride or who are afraid of missing the boat and who are now jumping on board - there will, of course, be off days, largely when I am over-heard stating that I may sell a few, but so be it - this one is here to stay and the £1 being touted is unlikely this year but seems wholly possible within the short time that I may have left - I am now 103 - GLA - Cheers - Rory -
Hi All - It's good to see me back on here - this rise on rise on rise following far too many days of re-traces, is just what the doctor ordered - Clearly the rather surprising upbeat trading numbers from the high streets for January, is a great boost to overall sector sentiment - May it continue as this stock still appears to be under-valued when compared to some other similar stocks etc.... Cheers - Rory -
Hi - it is worth remembering that January is a poor month for retailers on the markets - history tells us - especially for Dixons ! - todays significant rise could well be the point at which things start to turn around and some upward momentum is regained - GLA - Cheers - Rory -
Hi All...I was one of only two posters who stated that this would fall on results day then drift for a while - that said, I am not going to pretend that I am not surprised that we have now managed to re-trace to the 43p levels....I will again be topping up at these artificially low levels - very interesting how Carphone soared around 14% over two days following the tie-up with Samsung - wonder why they were chosen in preference to Dixons - interesting - However, a similar sitiuation is entirely possible for Dixons with another major manufacturer - Lets hope so - GLA - Cheers -- Rory -
Hi - good to have you pop up again - thankfully, my latest posting seems to have calmed the markets and they have responded with the usual nice bounce back following one of my announcements - I see our friend Puffy is back, banging on in his usual pessimistic fashion - Oh Well - who knows, he may even be right for a short while, but overall, we all know where this is likely to be heading in the next few months - ie. northwards Cheers - Rory -
Hi - I have now accepted that January is usually a disappointing month for most stocks and shares but especially retailers suchas Dixons - I have now topped up at these artificially low prices and will look forward to a very rosy spring - bring it on - nice to see a few new posters on here - but where are the old brigade - hope you have not panicked and jumped ship !!! - Cheers - Rory -
Hi - one simple course of action to this maddness - just top up - have just done so - mind you, it was moi who said this would fall during results day and would then drift for a while - however, it cannot last, can it !!? - common-sense dictates that this SP will rise again - nothing much wrong with results, just weakened sentiment for the sector, at the moment, and Sebbies words of modest caution appear to have been the main cause for this plunge - Also, Dixons is well documented for suffering the January blues in the markets - roll on spring - GLA - Cheers - Rory -
Hi All - quite a noticeable pattern developing here - early surge, then the SP is hit, pretty hard, but still maintains an overal small rise - any thoughts - Cheers, Rory....ps...you simply cannot beat the power-house all round qualities of the Volvo - S40/60/80 range were magnificent - if you ever have a friend that is wanting a very solid reliable car, but is not making loads of money, then a few years old Volvo S60 etc. would be the perfect car for them - Oh well.........pss....anyone else into table-tennis ?
Hi - could you kindly refrain from using the letters TCG on here - I was in at 42p just for them to plunge to 14p and look as though they were finished - can you imagine my apparant delight when they soared back up to 47p and I got out with a small profit - do you really need me to tell you the rest of this tragic little episode !? - I very much take the point that Dixons has traditionally fared rather badly on the markets come January - so, all in all, and especially with todays decent rise, I feel we are going to be back on track in the next few weks for the 52p + figure - GLA - Rory -
Hi - it's a fair point - except for the old saying, buy on the rumour sell on the news - that said, this rumour is so light-weight it has not led to any rise - yet - if this stock does not benefit from a useful bounce-back today then, I for one, will be very surprised - that said, I thought the same for Friday - even moi can call it wrong ! - Cheers - GLA - Rory -
well, I didn't think my effort was that bad a posting - Oh well, they say the elderly become invisable - bytheway - does anyone agree with me that exclamation marks are used to express surprise, shock or dismay and not to emphasize a point - any thoughts will be most welcome - Cheers - Rory - ps...sincerely hoping this does not attract a wealth of Know-it-all banter from our annoying friend Spellmastergent !
Hi - I am guessing that this considerable fall-back has come as a surprise to you and a few others who were offering great optimism for the SP come results day - the big surprise for me was the continued fall the following day when I was very much expecting the bargain hunters to push this quickly back up to more reasonable levels - with nothing much wrong with numbers and the running of the business, other than tight margins leading to a challenging sales climate, this one will surely start to maintain its steady trip northwards - Hope so, as I am now once again buried in this little gem of a recovery play !! - Cheers - Rory -
Hi All - very surprised and frustrated a the lack of bounce-back today following yesterdays well OTT plunge due to soooo many stop-losses being automatically triggered - where are all the small, medium and large investors today piling back in at this bargain basement price ? - This will rally but sickening to note the sharp rise of Halfords compared to Dixons with not that much difference in the numbers - If only Sebbie had get his mouth shut - what was the point of saying such a thing - give us share-holders a break - ps....overheard in a restaurant that Best Buy were about to offer 140p a share in a desperate Dixons takeover !!! .........mind you my hearing is not quite what it used to be.........Cheers, Rory -
Hmmm - now that's interesting - thanks for that - Oh yes, come to think of it, that was simply my little top up, so you are correct !!.......It is fascinating to think sometimes as to how some of us arrived at our user-names - did you have your finger in one at the time !? - I was well into Barclays at the time of registering and because I am now old beyond the call of duty I decided on Kid - rather like the bloke that has straight hair gets called curly - anyone else prepared to own up to the meaning of their user ID ? Cheers - Rory -
