Stgam02 - its obvious what I’m getting at, if you make stupid arguments about “everything else should be free” when you use nhs services or you or family using state run schools than I’d guess you’re pretty special. Assuming you don’t, why is that idiot argument applicable to broadband . Based on BB this policy it will be non BT broad band shares that will be worse hit, at least BT shares will get some return from free Broad Band. According to red Len Labours policy is to protect all workers.........obviously not broad band workers

This is laughable, free broadband for all will kill off all of the other broadband providers, shares in these will die tomorrow morning, will kill an entire industry over night..... I’m almost speechless at this stupidity.

Fleccy that coverage is nothing to be sniffed at, it’s all well and good have network in places / areas there’s less people to use it, but those areas you laugh at comes to over 17 million premises. The other point I’m making is perhaps liberty / Comcast could fund closing some of those gaps, Liberty alone has all that cash from their Vodafone deals... NDN ditto same point, 17m premise 1 gig or more by end of next year, how long till BT get there? I can’t predict the future, but I think this future is closer now than it was yesterday. Your / mine mobile mast is great, but how many mobile masts exist inside that 17m premises areas? I’m betting lots. But now for the first time U.K. cable industry is a couple of deals away from having proper fire power to finish their rollouts . That’s is the discussion point I’m proposing

NDN I’ll have bow to what you say, because I can’t argue with any confidence. But. Sure I can find out. I personally think you have virgin media’s topology wrong based on what I’ve read. Having said that I assume the unpopulated areas you think they don’t cross cross are smaller cells, whereas the areas they do provide service are big fat ones? I dunno, I had an article describing old ntl networks who were providing backhaul for orange at the time & ended up carrying virtually all their national traffic another article described Vodafone replacing as much Bt backhaul as they could where ever they could, with all their fixed line carriers everyone in here thinks they didn’t buy.

I know that’s quite a bit of debt. But is multiply BTs debt compared to the different incomes & it’s not so bad if you think BT debt is manageable, I think Comcast comes in less leveraged overall, but don’t quote me on that, will need Velo for that

Blue Pete, VM are rolling out gigabit broadband across their entire network finishing I think next year. Press are already reporting John malone and Comcast ceo have agreed sky getting access to it whilst Vodafone have a history of avoiding business with Bt at every opportunity...... backhaul is in my opinion without a doubt (people forget that’s what ntl started doing) Vodafone getting access to the cable broadband, it’s hard to deny as a possibility given past history with BT and knowing how much communication / business has been going between Vodafone and liberty. Could argue Comcast might be less likely to invest. Comcast figures are 86 billion revenue, 22 billion earnings & a whopping 144 billion in debt........ so. They paid 40 billion for sky

Fleccy must you always fail to see the point. Vodafone own C&W U.K. and everything that came with it, energies et’all. I think you are underestimating the Vm national network, all those cities and urban areas are all linked. Sky want to rid themselves of satellite. Comcast will want sky to use cable infrastructure (because cable is in their blood) Vodafone U.K. get access to the national network Vm have today whilst the other relationships in this ménage et toi organise themselves to extend that cable network every where it’s not. Sky win, Vodafone win & Comcast just think cable wins...... what I’m saying is these are dangerous times for BT &!they need to box clever. I’ve been concerned about this for a while, it’s not the first time I’ve mentioned it on this site.

Can you think of another measure, which matters? The look at sky and Comcast & their ambitions to get sky away from satellites. Vodafone have been following an anti bt policy for years, C&W were part of that. I’m saying Bt will need to out smart this industries next move. Virgin mobile customer base will be away from EE much sooner than you are all predicting, it’s something like 10% of their total customer base. I’m certain VM will take on back haul and other services Vodafone have not managed to hand over to C&W away from BT. I don’t think these predictions are over the top, I think these are logical conclusions to a deal like this.

Hmmm, I’m afraid my assessment of this is negative. Press has been reporting closer ties between virgin and Vodafone for a while. This deal will go both ways, Vodafone will replace Bt backhaul too, I would bet on it. Based on press reports we could see moves from Comcast who own sky to move their services away from Bt too, this would be a coordinated attack from Uncle Sam and their blinkered approach to cable based networks. BT needs to get cute now, this will increase competition and therefore prices or as i fear an attack on their market share regardless of cost for ideological reasons

I know Pete. Apparently citizens get the politicians they deserve. Some people in this country have supported toxic liars, whose only aim is to create chaos which they stupidly think they can benefit from. This will affect generations upon generations & like I said no one can describe why or what for, the price is literally the end of decency.

On the one side we have the deeply flawed, utterly incompetent Corbyn & labour, whilst on the other side we have a deeply toxic, divisive & dangerous brexitcons, led by trumpie / Bannon inspired nasties....... personally I’d rather get screwed by someone trying to some right things but unable to deliver them, then a bunch of loons who set out to screw the country and can, for a reason they can’t explain or justify......

Would busy analysts miss this? I’m not sure they would. I like the sound of it, course I do, but it’s a leap of faith to believe no one else in the market Sees this?

I was going to say same thing, Bt fleet, head office & others sold off during this period. I think BT fleet was 2 £200m + for instance.
