Hey bowler, we discussed this’s while ago around 5G and whether people would pay more (to make 5G commercially viable) when in most cases 4G provides everything you need. Of course you are right the same must be true for homes who already have enough speed to do what they need, watch telly etc etc. The stuff I have read from BT is quite clear that they don’t see people willing to pay a premium for fibre. However Virgin are proving the opposite, the take up of premium speeds on the Virgin Media network is very high & forms huge part of their strategy. The one caveat is young tech savvy geek people seem to go for Virgin B.B. so this might in itself skew the results. I’m with you, I get around 30m download and 10m upload. This is more than fine with me, I watch most of my tv with it & I wouldn’t pay extra for faster speeds. Quick straw poll would confirm this for most of my friends. I found once B.B. was more than 5m, it was just about enough

Hey Bertram of course you are right, village idiots do have a use. Shame you have been busy doing other things, share price has been feeling a bit more positive recently. End of year results in couple of weeks. Third quarter was a near miss for me & I think bad weather etc may well leave BT a little short, so I’m expecting a dip in May. Although others have reported what I think are good profits and they have dropped? (Lloyd’s). Still seeing lots of “out of hours” pressure on the bt share price, almost all sells, but still the price stumbles upwards. Has to be a good sign in my view. Really hoping this share can crawl back to £3 by this time next year!!!!

I think BT will know sometime in May. Whether this will be public then I have no idea. I think it might be lower than the publicised £14bln, but higher than their last results.

I read old infrastructure supported for many years yet & that copper reclaim won’t happen because fibre shares same ducts ? Didn’t bt fail to migrate old phone services during 21cn ? Wasting money trying? From people I knew in the industry old phone services are being left to dwindle away rather than a concerted forced closure. Money for old rope attitude. If I was asked to migrate I’d probably choose to get rid of my home phone like most people

It’s interesting to see it bounce away from 244.... if the price breaks through what does that mean?

The SP has felt like it’s run out of steam last day or so ( conclusion made by observation rather that charts). Would be good to see it hold this price with further gains in May. I’m still quite a bit down from my average purchase price

Hey pacemaker, I think the tv licence people might be on their way to your place. You deffo need a tv licence for those things. I think you need a licence to listen to a radio at home ( not sure about that) but deffo sure about iPlayer or any other service.
