Not sure I’ll ever understand market reaction to this share? I guess nothing is certain until the new guy is selected and course set. Which again beggars the question why has further uncertainty been created by not having a replacement lined up prior to breaking the news?

I was expecting this to happen much later. Can’t see the point of announcing new strategy without a chance to deliver. Should have happened either sooner or later. Kind of feels like the chairman stumbled around on this, first offering full support & then not?

Mishmosh, I think there’s a good case for the CEO to be culling his management team. Fines in Openreach, day to day, fraud in Italy, I think you can argue that’s day to day, it’s reasonable for him to think these business are being run properly and audited. Big stuff, EE deal, Openreach separation, Football etc etc. Largest mobile, largest fixed line, consumer and business. . . We have no idea what’s going on behind the scenes, this could be plain interference from DT board member to a deal behind the scenes to keep BT shares low ready for a european telecoms super power, not to mention how difficult our friend Sharon White is being. The man on the spot is Jan & he has had time to look around and conclude Gav’s plan should be given a go. I think it’s reasonable to have a close eye on BT over next year or so. Yellow card is definitely in play.

Listen the reason why a CEO is paid so much money is that less than 1% of us could do the job. You all huff & you all puff, think you can do better & let your ignorance lie to you that all the things you don’t know, makes it look easy. Most of us, including me would freeze like scared rabbits if confronted with running a company like BT. Most would curl up and die running our local McDonald’s. That’s the truth, can we stop pretending now and have a proper discussion about BT. Just my opinion of course, otherwise you would all be CEO’s.

Be careful what you wish for pacey. I really don’t think Gav is going any where this year, too much face would be lost although I am surprised to see his plans so roundly doubted by the market.

You can get fair value calculations online from people who are supposed to understand this stuff. Ones I’ve seen value BT between £3.80 and £4.40.

I’m not sure that’s any thing different than the advice from BT itself? There’s no analysis there at all. I still think the public sector losses will run their course later this year.
