However the MRW valuation looks more than fair to me, it can always go higher, or Amazon could bid. Not one for me at these levels. Just my take Only.

MRW sell on about 22X, and this does not allow for their sizeable pension deficit. The share price has been bid up to an extent by Amazon bid speculation IMV. However on MARS £1 would not surprise me.

The deficit at the end of the interim period was £19.4 Million, compare this to MAB and you will see the difference.

A Marston's local pub. Quite heartened by this looking at the pub's own website. Offering something a little different in the area, live music, "alternative " venue. Less impressed with the Pitcher and Piano main website highlighting July offers, in September!. No excuse for that in my view.

Trent, not sure it's a case of static custom shared by a hugely reduced number of remaining pubs, if that were the case every pub in the UK would be heaving. However agree that further capacity cuts may be supportive. On casual dining there has been large UK capacity expansion over the last 4/5 years, worth keeping this in mind. On room accommodation, I'm unfamiliar with current supply/demand metrics. Would accept that MARS may have greater diversification than some other operators. Their pension deficit also looks very modest, if I'm looking at the right numbers, another point of difference from some in the sector.

In my view. There are sector challenges which all operators face. The question is whether this is reflected in the share price at current levels.

Are thin on the ground, I'm in KT13, Surrey. There is one in Woking, usually avoid that town if possible. Although Paul Weller grew up there so not all bad!. They have a couple of pubs in Richmond Surrey.

The CEOn has bought a few here, over at GNK I can't see any reported BOD purchases post recent statement.

They don't need to halt all expansionary CAPEX, well hopefully not, just trim the bugets. As mars s not rated as a growth stock, would not see a cut in expansion as a concern. During times of consumer caution the market trends to focus on cashflow. All just imv only.

At the next update and 2019. Have bought a very small amount. Further falls would not surprise me, just IMV.

Different views make a market. If you are buying someone is selling, and the opposite applies. Institutions will usually hold a a small % of invested capital in a single stock, so do not usually take too much notice on that front. What happens during the next recession is what I would tend to ask. We already have a consumer under some pressure with record low rates and UK employment at its highest level in 45 years. Where is the upside for the economy from here?.

dismissive of some of the more bearish points raised here. After all how many posters would have anticipated the share price even near current levels 6 months ago?.

Not sure I see much value in HIkma. The main attraction is perhaps low debt, and possible takeover interest. The quoted generic sector looks near meltdown in term of share price declines. Too many are looking at previous HIkma so highs thinking current levels represent value, however 20x was near la la land imv, and at those levels the Company was rated as a high growth stock. On many boards SHP and HIK are mentioned interchangeablely, I see very little in common, besides a weak share price!.. All just IMV only, DYOR as always.

I got some at 37.93125 at 14.04 yesterday, not sure it's the low to be honest, however hopefully it's good longer term value. Will find out in time.

Markets present you with really good longer term opportunities. However it's not usually made easy. Often the best prices correspondence with the most difficult time to buy. Now whether Shire is one of those remains to be seen. I am building a position slowly, so hoping it is. However very much a case of DYOR as none of us has the gift of prescience. Only fair to say that I am cautious on wider equity markets ATM and over 35% in cash.

Attempting to rationalize short term SP movements is the road to nowhere. Sometimes a company trades at a full valuation, other times it does not. There can be fundamental reasons for a sell off, or it can be largely sentiment driven. The recent results webcast, available on the SHP investors site, contains a huge amount of information for those interested.
