Ocado should be able to capitalise on Amazon's unpopularity among French supermarket owners:
Amazon sees big opportunities in France but an anonymous spokesperson from either Intermarche, Super U or Casino stated last October: "They approached everyone but did not receive positive feedback , says a distributor. Amazon wants to get closer to a retail brand to take advantage of its buying capacity they do not have at the moment, and for the customer knowledge that we have with our stores. We can see the interest for Amazon, but ours is less obvious. Amazon is not our friend: in the end their goal is to eat us and we will not open the door and give them the menu. "".
Leclerc will not ally with Amazon:
"Amazon forces us to react, we have to learn to be good in logistics and the difference will not be in speed but in the quality of the products," he said, saying that "it is not the everything that Amazon has come to shake the French market for a long time ".

Regarding the Carrefour/Google tie up, it seems this could be complementary to the Ocado arrangement:
"The deal is about three things. First, Google and Carrefour will offer a new shopping experience in 2019: all the products sold by Carrefour will be available via the Google Home speaker, Google Assistant, the connected personal assistant of Google, or Google Shopping Actions, the a new Google service that allows people to buy directly from Google's search engine or Google Assistant. Launched in the second half of the year, this scheme will first focus on non-food products and then, from early 2019, it will apply to the food supply.
Second part: the creation of an innovation laboratory, in Paris, in partnership with Google cloud. The distributor's engineers will work closely with experts from the Internet giant, especially those specialized in Artificial Intelligence. The goal? Jointly create new experiences for the consumer. Last axis: the digitization of the Carrefour group. Google will deploy within the distributor its Second part: the creation of an innovation laboratory, in Paris, in partnership with Google cloud. A training program on new technologies will also be provided to thousands of employees around the world."
In the US, Google already have a tie-up with Walmart along those lines. I don't see that Google is anywhere near where Ocado is with advanced logistics but I could be wrong!
