It's reported that Aviva has now missed the deadline set for the appointment of it new CEO needed after the sudden exit of Mark Wilson. One candidate, Alison Brittain didn't want the job and three, yes three, other outside candidates are 'not available'! Inside candidate Paul Briggs "didn't make the shortlist, which if true is bizarre".

So what is it about such a prime job that puts off good people like the smell of a rotten kipper? Back in December I (and others here ISTR) pointed the finger at Chairman Montague whose track record before getting the job did not look as good as it might. Maybe at Aviva it ain't what you have done so much as the friends you have made?

If a takeover is a possibility they have only themselves to blame.

It might be a chance to invest in another part of the world. They say the supply chain is 'unpredictable' looking forward so maybe they should look sideways too.

The Insurance Post is suggesting Alison Brittain, Whitbread CEO, is a possible replacement for Wilson.

I don't subscribe so could only read the headline!

This is fast-moving technology so it's possible they will be able to iron out any bugs when they rebuild. A setback could be made into an opportunity.

That's lucky. First thing today I got a price on selling up which looked suspiciously generous - someone wanted my shares - so I didn't hit the button.

I see that Motley Fool's Rupert Hargreaves is de-ramping this stock, saying its value is dependent on a no-deal brexit. however he doesn't offer a detailed assessment and his opinion is challenged by this much better article back in November:

Hargreaves article fails to mention that Segro has assets in several EU countries, not just the UK and that it is not dependent on brexit panic but on the move from traditional retail to online.

He suggests the dividend yield of "2.8%,[is not] enough to offset the potential capital losses investors could suffer." but does not mention that the dividend cover is a very comfortable c. 5.8.

No doubt he was paid handsomely for his article even though it is lacking in detail and if he is wrong he will suffer no consequences.
