111baker - again wrong information is being posted on here.
Your statement "....fishbone drills with it`s many strands loosens the oil in the kimmeridge levels, this tool being used for the first time in Europe." is wrong. The Weatherford Ultrawave Tool which is a drilling LWD tool was used for the first time in Europe whilst drilling the Brockham well. Fishbone or multi-lateral wells have been used for decades all around the world.
I would be focusing on the HH 2016/2018 Kimmeridge flow tests than something that occurred 30 years ago.
The Majors in the 80's were solely focussed on the Mega Fields. There are fields that have been discovered in the 70's that are only now economically viable due to technological advancements and the price of oil (especially above 100 dollars).
The major advancements have been since the 80's rotary steerable drilling, advancements in LWD real time data acquisition and production techniques.
Angus have the only production licence in the Weald, so they are ahead of UKOG who are now sadly encountering the same Go Slow SCC mentality to please their constituents.
Majors only acquire assets / companies once it has been proven, so wells have to be drilled / flow test proving oil reserves and then that would be the next stage (if they were interested).
When it comes to choosing a suitable site, that is not an issue, unless you try to drill in a conservation zone like the 11 year Holmwood debacle.
