Lots of people on here are trying to keep their feet on the ground (others clearly not) after years of disappointment. You on the other hand just seem to be clinically miserable about WSG. My (granted, unsolicited) advice is to sell up and move on to happier pastures new.

10 or 15 years is my guess.

Would love longer, but doubt we’ll top 15.

I’m hoping for 50p within a couple of weeks of the deal.

Morning Bigears: I’m sure they’ll release the length of the contract - which will be key. They may say what fees are being received for scanning but I’m sure they won’t tell us what margin it’s expected to be or even what share of those fees they receive.

The best I can hope for is them saying “it’s for x years and a total value expected to be $ X million a year/over the life”. But you won’t know if that’s the present value or the sum of all potential cash flows undiscounted.

If they sign and we’re not a profitable company by year end then I’ll be livid....this is a very low capex contract apparently.

I think the quietness is a combination of holidays and no news.

I’m going for second week of September.

On the plus side Lefkosia’s gone awol too.

Silver lining (and I’m really trying here) is that come September there will be a lot more people back from hols so an RNS then might see some real buying momentum.

Foxy: Even the pessimist in me says before November. I think more likely disappointment is in the magnitude of the margin we’ll get.....and that probably won’t become clear until next years’ half year results.

But if the question is “when is granny arriving” and Linton says “in a minute”....a: it’s nebulous as he says. 2: it’s somewhat out of his control. Granny may have indicted that she’ll be here any minute, but she may get distracted by a fellow blue rinser discussing the merits of Aldi’s latest deal of 4K tellies.

There was a lack of commitment by PF and it’s out of his hands.

Morning h&n. I agree that 2-6 weeks is a realistic interpretation of the phrase “in the coming weeks”

I think that the concern that the market, and many on here have is that PF doesn’t know how long it will take. He may thjnk 2-6 weeks, but at the AGM he thought 30-40 days. It’s out of his hands.

All that said, I’d be very surprised if it’s not sorted by end of September....and we’ve had our raise so how much lower can the SP go???

Martyn if it was remotely close (and in fact remotely alive) he’d have mentioned it at the half year results.

Once Ghana is signed I think they may let it slip that it’s dead....happy in the knowledge that we won’t care as we’ll be counting the ship and our money.

Mike: I’m not saying it makes logical steps. But that can be how new regimes work....they don’t want the old one to be able to get any credit and they don’t want people who were close to the old ones.

They could well say “we like the fact they’re a British company an dwe can take credit for improving security”. But you never know.

As with everything else...moot point given that it’s all about Ghana.

If it’s Sudan and Al Bashir is gone, doesn’t that mean there’s a fair chance that the change of administration might torpaedo our contract? I appreciate that it’s not a definite problem as they may still like the idea of the Brits helping.....but a falling through would be in line with the silence at the mid year results.

I have no issue with working in dodgy countries. A: it’s the sort of areas we’re likely to pick up work vs the big boys
2: if you cut off these countries then they’ll never improve. Engagement and working with them is how you beat corruption.

I agree....but not sure why you’re making the point to me??? All I was saying is that he doesn’t know when it will be signed so no point in overanalysing his wording.

Quaila: the key to remember is that it’s not within PF’s power to determine the timeframe.....so he doesn’t know for sure....ergo, over analysing his wording is not going to help. It will come when it comes.

He obviously things that all the contracts will be sorted for the whole port in Q3 so that’s as good a guide as he can give.

It’s August, the market volume is low, but volitility is high. Unexpected results can make shares fly or crash in August

I knew the numbers would be good, I knew that we’d get no development on Iran, I knew that it was unlikely we’d get much new on Africa and I knew they’d give us nothing meaningful on Ghana. (If there has been a material development in either then we’d have heard already)

Let’s agree to disagree. You think there was lots of new, exiting information. I thought not, the market seems to agree with me.

This is how I got into a fight with invest over the RNSs back in July. I have no issue with the RNS, I’m just saying there’s nothing new. I

One possibility if they do need more scanners is that now WSG are there, we could flog them some of the cheaper (and to be honest slightly worse quality) ones that we supply.

It will be fun when we can all speculate on fees and margins and container volumes rather than when/if it will land at all!
