This is entering 'conspiracy theory' territory. It's been aired worldwide for at least a month, now. But nevertheless, it's sure that once this has all blown over, CV-19 will become known as 'Chinese Flu'.

Nobody (or at least hardly anybody) in the West had heard of Wuhan until this broke out. In fact, had it been properly contained, the death of a city and their eleven million people wouldn't have bothered me at all. I'm callous, like that.

However, there are limits to conspiracy theories.

I refuse to believe that China deliberately unleashed this thing on the world. But I do reckon the news only broke once they realised it was out of control.

Fascinating. I'm beginning to think you haven't just worked N.Sea. Or if you have, Bristows et al are finding excuses. 'Not enough wind'????? 'Waterspouts'???? OK, I've seen flights grounded due to typhoons, but that was offshore W.Africa. In fact I've seen a 'waterspout' rip the entire helideck off a neighbouring platform down there, so not 'flying weather' !

'Freezing fog' is OK, though. Not going to take off the outbound flight like that, 'cos it might be worse out on the rig / platform / whatever, and have got yet worse for the inbound.

Now you've got me utterly confused. Though N.Sea logistics have changed since I was there, which was decades ago. Chopper, plane, bus, then pick up your bags at a heliport?

And that's not you in Central Aberdeen, which will require a taxi, probably. Hope you've got a hazmat suit and a gallon of disinfectant. Aberdeen taxis aren't renowned for their sterility, and a driver who doesn't stop talking is a rarity.

To be exact, I think you'll find that that person involved was the first 'unexplained fatality' where a case of some sort of 'flu suddenly developed badly. The thing had already been around for a while. Actual identification of the virus being 'new' only happened in early January, but the genie was well out of the bottle by then.

There's something rather ironic I've noticed while watching the news. Which 'european' country (just about the only one) not under some kind of lockdown? Yup, you've guessed, that country where Abba came from, more recently shoved into the shadows by a young lady advocating that the world uses less oil, and stuff like that. Sweden. Business as usual there, it seems.

I wonder if she's happy she's got her wish? Maybe she's now back attending school, 'cos they're still open there.

Of course, Sweden has the highest suicide-rate of any 'european' country, but I guess we'd better not mention that.

That's an interesting article. Listening to the news this morning, I was intrigued to hear that the number of hospital admissions documented as 'stroke' or 'heart failure' has dropped significantly. Are such statistics in fact being 'masked' by CV-19?

One thing I've noticed, is not having heard the hospital helicopter for three days now. Most of its usual missions are related to road accidents. But now, there's almost nobody on the roads.

It's also used in the offshore oil industry if the person being evacuated has been the victim of some sort of accident. To differentiate between that, and the evacuation of someone 'unwell'. The use of the two terms can dictate the level of urgency. In the case of someone unwell, it can usually be assumed that the patient can be kept onboard until daylight, for instance, whereas if someone's fallen down a ladder and is suffering internal bleeding and has multiple fractures, a night flight can be justified.

Precisely. That was exactly the thrust of my early-morning posts. Initially ridiculing the piece, although it would appear to have been based on fact, as confirmed by today's RNS, so I was wrong in that respect. But why should a covid-19 related medivac from the Aoka Mizu be singled-out by 'EnergyVoice' as a headline article, with a daft headline, and a ridiculously out-of-date photo? When evidently the same is happening on other installations (not surprisingly), as someone else here has pointed out?

Someone really wants to buy out Hurricane on the cheap, methinks. Or shut us down, trying.

Please feel free to doubt me. Plenty of people do. Until (usually) I prove 'em wrong to have done so.

However, your original question was about why I 'reported' that poster who put up the link to the supposed EnergyVoice article. To which I responded. So yes, I guess that matter's closed.

However, you have not responded to my own question, and I feel it would be polite of you to do so, if nothing else.

Maybe I should re-phrase it, in a rather roundabout and longwinded way, maybe, but as you've remarked, we have 'time on our hands' at the moment.

I contend that the 'coronavirus on the Aoka Mizu' article is a piece of shameless scaremongering, utterly shoddy journalism, and possibly originating from a foreign source (though I'll have to wait a few hours to check about that last bit).

What reason do you have to disagree with my opinion regarding the first two bits, though?

Also, I have another question, but please don't feel obliged to reply to it. Are you by any way related to John Mytton, a somewhat infamous 'rake' and scoundrel of the 19th century, who attended Trinity College, Cambridge (with poor results), went on to live a life of unscrupulous scandal, leaving countless illegitimate offspring in his wake, and died penniless of delirium tremens?
