But it's a valid sort of question, nevertheless, to my mind. We're living in unprecedented times. Measures have been taken in many countries due to a 'health scare', and for a simple reason. Their 'health-care systems' are in danger of being overwhelmed. However, that's already having a bad knock-on effect to other 'systems'. So difficult to predict how things will pan out further on up the road.

For those going into (or already in) 'lockdown', having a lot of good reading matter to hand will be primordial. Here's a few Adoubleuk recommendations:

What are you talking about? As I write, HUR is down about 1.5%. After yesterday's rather amazing rise, I was expecting about a 10% drop, with the unscrupulous dealers doing their thing. But it hasn't happened. Maybe (hopefully) some 'shorters' have got their fingers seriously burnt. It'll be interesting to see what happens after Wall Street opens.

I spent most of yesterday in bed (not for health reasons, but laziness) and was amazed to see the SP rise, later. That will have knocked a lot of shorters off their positions, and about time too. Dunno what will happen today, don't really care, but yes, the 'macro-environment' is good for those happily comfortable with 'risk', and not worried about it.

Who dares,wins.

I must admit that the after-hours RNS bothered me a bit, at first. But in fact, it was just stating things as they are, so no worries, after all. CMD postponed? No sweat. 'Covid crisis' prevails. EPS producing per guidelines. Etc..

Reality in my neck of the woods is having all the commerces shut down (bars, restaurants, everything else other than grocery shops and (thankfully) tobaconnists shut, being unable to go for a walk without being 'controlled' by the police, etc.

I don't really want to enter the conspiracy theory camp regarding the origins of this economy-destroying disease. Also, I don't disbelieve some rather disturbing footage from hospitals in Europe and interviews with their overworked staff. Despite having a rather jaundiced view of just about everything I see on the TV or read in other media.

Nevertheless, I can't help feeling that European 'governments' have been caught 'short-footed'. (Absolutely no pun intended.) Heck, money has been poured into upping allowing people to grow older, representing an economic overhang on the actual working population. Have provisions been made for that 'philosophy' backfiring? No.

Now these 'governments' are promising that everyone put out of work due to 'emergency measures' will get paid.

Yeah, right. Where's that money going to come from?

Seen objectively, one can only get a sense of deja-vu, in a way. Covid on its own would have been bad enough. But it coincides with KSA and Russia having a p**sing-contest over POO. Plus various elections looming on the horizon.

A badly-maintained BOP, a casing crossover with no certificate, and a cement-job which never passed a lab test come to this oilman's mind, leading (amongst other things) to an event which happened on April 20th 2010.

We ain't seen nothing yet.

I think you're exaggerating things. Energy supplies in France 'under lockdown' are considered 'essential', so things like service-stations (where one usually exchanges gas-cylinders) remain open.

What interests me is whether in the UK when 'lockdown' is announced is whether tobacconists' will be considered 'essential', like over here.
