Yep, quite agree with that sentiment. Especially as the day has finished with the SP completely 'flat'.

My dreamy mind has been elswhere, anyway. Not just about the World Poker Tour event in Marrakesh in a few weeks' time (I'll be there), but also a possible road-trip to Rotterdam.

And it occured to me that 'Down by the Jetty' by Dr Feelgood might be good music for such an occasion.

But the thing is, I'm getting the feeling that it's not bbls / day that's the important thing here.Try as I might, I haven't been able to find hard figures about the California play, but others have written at length about it here, and the important thing seems to be that it's going ahead at top speed and looks as thought it'll be profitable. And thus profitable for us, having invested in a company which has invested in the venture...

The same goes for Romania, although we have to wait for news on that.

Colter is a different kettle of fish,but it was personally a reason I bought in (recently) here. Bbl / day simply won't apply. However a success case appraised via wellbore logging will show if we've struck gold and not just ferrous sulphate. If the former, we go happily to the bank, leaving someone else to dig the stuff up.

This feels like a 'nice' share to be invested in, right now. Not O&G properly speaking, just a couple of people doing their homework and finding nice O&G opportunities that might otherwise have gone unnoticed by people like us.

So essentially we're investing in an 'opportunity-spotting' company. Which feels rather nice, given that I've just finished re-reading Brian Epstein's autobiography.

Mine is a green L322. 'Chipped by myself' with the BMW 6-in-line giving a tad more bhp than the 530 with the same block.

This is simply not true. And if you disagree with that, can you cite some similar instances where that were the case?

It's a myth, largely perpetrated by 'rampers' on boards like this, trying to make simple-minded 'punters' believe that the SP will suddenly go to ten quid due to a 'takeover' by a 'Major' with a bottomless wallet.

Why can't some people just open their eyes to the FACT that companies like BP have their own budget-restraints, are also shackled to having to pay dividends to their shareholders (mostly banks and institutions, so it becomes a bootstrapping operation to keep the world dollar economy afloat) , and that Hurricane are doing the work they'd have to do anyway, so why interfere?

If it ain't broken, don't mess with it.

Just to change the tone of things a bit. Tuning out the background of Wellwell and his dire predictions, subsequent denials of being a 'paid basher', and stuff like that. Bad enough seeing the SP wavering about the 50p mark without having funereal droning-on like that to accompany it.

And receiving personal insults (or supposed insults which aren't) to boot. Some people really have no soul. Am I a gambler? Yes, you bet I am! Otherwise why else would I own shares in an obscure oil-exploration company led by a maverick geologist with a grin almost as crazy (at times) as my own? Who is a self-admitted connaisseur as well?

'Wellwell' can't make it to the AGM 'cos he doesn't live in London. Oh deary deary me. I used to manage to make Eric Clapton's concerts at the Royal Albert Hall, flying into London City and then fighting my way (at great expense) to the West End and my humble garret digs in a Bayswater hotel. (Which I won't name, because that would make it more difficult to book there in the future.) The only reason I haven't made the AGM's for the last three years is that the date coincided with a truck-race in Britany.

And anyway, Wellwell has obviously never heard of that great sage Dr Samual Johnson, who was once quoted as saying "he who makes a beast of himself gets rid of the pain of being a man". He also wouldn't understand the pure joy of driving towards home at four in the morning at high speed on an almost-deserted four-lane, exceeding the speed-limit in a comfortable (if old) Rangerover, with a lady twenty-three years younger in the passanger seat, conversationally deconstructing a poker-hand played three hours previously which had cost the driver a couple of hundred euros because he made a bad reraise. And being able to laugh about it.

I'm glad to have seen you join this BB with your occasional posts. There are one or to other 'real' oil-people on this BB, but they seem to be keeping quiet for the moment. My own experience with 'oil in basement' was in Libya 15 years ago. We abandoned the well because we hit 'basement' high, and it wasn't what we wanted, but visiting the core-lab and talking with the geologists afterwards was fascinating.

And then we drilled Nafoora West: fractured limestone on the edge of a massive 'fractured basement' upthrust, and the rest is history... Most impressive DST I've ever been involved with.

For some reason, pijoe is off on some sort of crusade over on the UKOG BB telling people why it's such a dog. in which I completely agree wiyh him longterm, but which is a paradise for fast-movers like himself.

No, let me save you some time. Because you're quite correct. Except forget about the idea of a workover of the two immediate production wells to become more 'selective' as to which bits of the horizontal segments are best. It won't happen, as the well architecture doesn't enable it without being cost-prohibitive.

Hurricane is doing what Shell / BP / Exxon / TOTAL (etc.etc., delete / add as required) would do themselves. Play with the dam thing. Find what works best.

Half a billion in raised capital speaks for itself. The question is not whether Hurricane can build a racing-car, it's finding out how fast they can get the b***er to run.

Sorry, mate, but despite our being in personal correspondence at times I think you've crossed a line there.

Firstly I'd like to know what 'good points' you consider Wellwell to have stated.

Secondly, you were chucked off SiPP's website for the simple reason that you have no investment in HUR at present, and it remains closed to non-holders. Where we exchange information which although NOT price-sensitive we may not wish to divulge to others. Our priviledge.

Call it 'confirmation-bias' if you want. But it's those awaiting 'confirmation' who will miss out when payday comes.

In an earlier post I said I don't offer 'advice' to other shareholders, and I stand true to that. But one thing I do know for a fact. That being, the only way one ever makes any money out of a share is when one sells that piece of paper.

Unless one buys a share that pays a dividend. And I don't see Hurricane ever doing that. Though tht's an opinion, of course.

Of course, I won't mention a significant shareholder fund-manager in HUR who's busy seeing some of his bets going t**s-up at present. Who 'Wellwell' seems to admire.

The thing being, I've had a most entertaining evening. Went out for a Vietnamese meal and to keep my blood / C2H5OH levels correct, with just my phone to enable to keep me abreast of discussion ongoing on this Hurricane Energy shareholders' (?) BB.

And saw my name (no, initials gleaned from my pseudo) being mentioned more and more.

First took slight umbrage, saw responses and regained my cool, then began to smile. Didn't respond, because I'm hopeless when trying to write on my phone. Saved it 'til now. Because I'd like to put something down on the record, as a 'regular contributor' to this BB.

It is rare that I offer 'advice': most of what I write is personal opinion, and should be taken as such. This evening's entertaining correspondence mainly got kicked off with some advice I gave mrJimV about an AIM-listed 'Emulsion Fuels' company, which I thought was the same as one which I was once invested in and caused me considerable monetary loss. I didn't name it because libel, 'posting', and FCA rules apply here. And his reply made me think that maybe it wasn't in fact the same company. Even though maybe it wasn't.

Though my OPINION subsists: avoid AIM-listed emulsion-fuel shares: nice idea, but none of them workable so far, despite shareholder support keeping the BoD quite happy, thank you.

I digress, though.

Tonight's reading has entertained me. And the points brought up so multiple that I can't expound on any of them at length. But just one or two stand out.

Firstly, this 'water breakthrough' thing. To any new potential investor here. DYOR, goddam it, starting with the company literature. And if you don't trust what they say, don't invest. Period.

Which leads me secondly to to point number two. Do I trust Dr Trice, his knowledge and expertise, and that of the entire BoD? Yes. Implicitly. Not a question of 'faith' which is something completely different. The man's an oilman, like me. And I can spot a 'chancer' a mile off. His grin comes from the knowledge that HE KNOWS HE'S RIGHT, and his project's going to put a lot of peoples' noses out of joint when they're forced to eat crow. And I'll back someone like him all the way.

Running out of space here, so must stop. With this:

If that's the company I suspect it is, I'd advise getting out of it pdq, and putting your money in here. Check my 'pseudo' for posts there about 3 years ago. I took a big loss, others are still doing so. Nice idea, but still not off the ground, really.

HUR is waay different. The only 'new idea' is FB off the UKOCS. But it already 'works' in many places worldwide.

Oh, and just forget the 'water issue'. Ever heard of 'risk assessment' and 'mitigation'? The only reason that keeps cropping up is because when Lancaster goes onstream some people are going to have to eat crow pie, while looking rather silly while they do so. And their own shareholders will (justifiably) be coming to them with some very awkward questions indeed.

That too means nothing. We shipwatchers have been remiss in not keeping an eye on a certain Gulfstream G280 with 'Bluewater' written on the side. Seen in Dubai on more than one occasion, or so someone tells me.

NOOO! That confirms nothing of the sort! You see, the vessel doesn't have a regassifier onboard. So instead, they put the Kilburn in drydock and open the stopcocks of the LPG tanks. The liquid flows out into the drydock and turns into gas, and being heavier than air (I think) it'll stay there. Then they'll run sort of vacuum-hose over from the Aoka Mizu to suck up the gas and test the GT generators.

I hope Tarkers can confirm this.
