That theory, in the manner in which it is usually used, wrongly, on AIM, only applies to a matched market, AIM is not a matched market.
Market makers (MM) are contracted to provide a buying and selling service of the nominated market size of an AIM listed company. (300,000 in the case of Oilex, so you do not need a buyer or seller to trade up to that size, you need a MM, who holds stock)
Therefore on AIM a MM is the buyer or seller but the service is guaranteed.
On a matched market a seller would need a buyer, not a MM.
