Here we are, Mon, 27 Apr 2026, and we see the beginning of the potential outcome of SONORA LITHIUM which is now in the International Arbitration Courts in Washington vs Mexico by Ganfeng who TOOK OVER Bacanora [JV partner of REM plc].

Surprisingly and stunning to see THAT KDNC could OBTAIN non-recourse FUNDING to take Mexico to International Tribunal after Ganfeng had lodged their case. The funder is not the usual Burford but LCM. If REM Mexico Ltd loses, nothing to pay per the RNS?

REM plc went on to live another day under KIRAN MOZARIA, CEO of KDNC and a/c to the MeetCo, progress has been made and that too is progressing.

GANFENG'S CLAIM against MEXICO: Gemini said yesterday that the Sonora project is OVER $1bn but the claim is not known how much Ganfeng is claiming for but I will try to find out.

Ganfeng is also taking Mexico to international tribunal under China-Mexico BIT & UK-Mexico BIT. The case will be heard in Washington. In late 2025, the Tribunal disallowed Mexico's "bifurcate" ie to hear jurisdictional objections before the main merits, means it is going to FULL TRIAL on the merits. In Oct 2025, the Tribunal also rejected Mexico's request to SUSPEND the arbitration while Mexico tried to consolidate other claims.

The case is currently in the EVIDENTIAL and EXPERT REPORT exchange phase. A FINAL HEARING is EXPECTED TO TAKE PLACE IN 2026 [late[ or EARLY 2027.

GANFENG will argue on "RETROACTIVITY " ie Mexico's 2023 NATIONALISATION laws cannot be applied retrospectively. The concessions were GRANTED years before the 2022 MINING LAW REFORMS and INTERNATIONAL LAW protects investors from "sudden, uncompensated policy shifts that destroy existing property rights. Mexico claims the concessions were CANCELLED because Ganfeng FAILED to meet minimum investment requirements. Ganfeng and partners REFUTE this claiming they actually exceeded the required thresholds and provided NECESSARY DOCUMENTATION. SUCCESS WILL DEPEND ON TRIBUNAL's TECHNICAL AUDIT OF THESE INVESTMENT RECORDS. P.S. On Fri, 24 Apr 2026, KCNC closed at 5p and just a touch over with market cap at £20m. David Lenigas started REM plc using a shell and became Chairman of Rem Plc and set up REM Mexico Ltd as well to hold the Sonora Lithium Project, Mexico. REM plc was later changed to Cadence Minerals under new CEO, Kiran Mozaria. News.
