High St Game 3 if you have also bought Card!
51.7p good price. Well done.
Added another two lots (2,485) & (2,444) shares into my fund account for a small play - couldn't help myself - these prices are cheap
Back in da High Street Game 2...
Bought 6,733 and 16,428 shares in Wrks this morning a few mins after market opened.
Really Nice price to jump back in (51.7p)and worth it considering I sold in the high 50's earlier this week... lets roll
Off to the shops to buy a ruler and pencil and u know where I am going ... ha ha
Lol. It is funny. I had no idea that Wrks dropped to 50p today, so will watch it tomorrow and will ONLY buy in if it stays below 51p. I have a confession to make. Reading your musings on CARD, I have also invested in that too in my ISA and SIPP although a small wee gamble. Shoe Zone is still my biggest by a huge margin from my brick retail store holdings and it will be fine as it was worth at least double the current price before the pandemic hit, plus 50% of the shares are owned by a family who run a tight ship and have never let the company go into debt apart from a wee dip below due to the pandemic. Its pretty much debt free, has a huge online presence and relatively safe....
Hi PurpleInvestor funny game this isn’t it? Really is the blind leading the blind I don’t truthfully think any of us really know what we are doing ha ha.
As you know, I sold out completely and piled everything into Card but this has dropped now to a level that can’t be ignored.
Still can’t bring myself to buy Shoe Zone again though and I wouldn’t post it over there but there is never anybody in their shop!!
Lol - I got rid of all mine these past 10 days in chunks around 57+p mark - sold my last lot this morning for 54p+ as well as I got bored watching it fall - it was never a big platy for me, but will be back in if it drops to 50p just because I feel guilty of holding for so long and then losing patience as I found other stocks having more movement and a better return, so will be back in the morning unless the price shoots up but with hardly any trades in this share I hopefully should get back in. Welcome back Rox tho !
Thankyou Oldham
Those 3 £9942 0.512 0.515 and 0.515 buys today are mine.
Never seen the Wrks shop so busy.
Good safe place to keep your £.
Welcome back!
Them two 10 grand buys yesterday (1st Sept) are mine.
Sold out because I believe (correctly or incorrectly) that CARD will rise by more £ BUT that sentence in the last RNS keeps haunting me and I’m FOMO.
Here it is again..
"The net result is that we have ended the year in a strong financial position, with no bank borrowings and are much more effective operationally than we were before the pandemic. We are now even better prepared to execute our refocused strategy and are confident in the future prospects of the business."
I mean how many shops after being closed down through Covid for the best part of their year have emerged without debt and in a stronger position?
Also whenever I walk past the WRKS on my CARD shop surveillance the WRKS (along with CARD) are also really really busy.
All IMO only of course but I like to declare my position.
Good luck everybody.
Ok... I know how you feel about wrks as I moved bulk of my money from wrks to Shoe Zone a few months ago. But Wrks will see a £1 soon especially as the next trading update will have the summer tills and they have been ringing. GL with card factory, I saw your post today on how many shares you have there... You have big kahuna's. I hope card does it for you .. I was analysing it against Cineworld and had a few grand on Cineworld instead as i felt that would get to a £1.20 which is my sell price quicker than Card...
Hi PI yes. Didn’t want to tbh and got a terrible price for my last lot (0.588) but have been selling and switching to Card the last couple of weeks. I like The Works but just like Saga I got bored. Can’t do balanced portfolios I have tried but I love being all or nothing into a share it’s so much more exciting especially when I think it’s got potential to multi bag. Good luck with Shoezone matey.
You sold out of Wrks today Rox ?
Walked past The Works today and it was really busy. Must be because the kids are off school but I ain’t complaining! I don’t think this will double bag from here but it’s a nice safe place to keep your £ and my guesstimate is an easy 50% in the next 12 months.
Still here and holding and a lot more optimistic!!
I didn't want to write anything as it seems only me and you responding to the movements of this stock. But nice rise today -hope you're well Rox
15% rise and not one comment?
Well, they do say the quieter the discussion boards the bigger the rises.
Great share this and so much potential.
Looks good, shops do look a bit busy from my meandering walk inside our local shopping mall on Friday. Hoyle leaving tho is a downer - (wonder why), although replaced by someone who has experience from one of those large grocery sheds so guess that will be good. Plus a director loading up with wrks shares today, the market reacted with good news and more bought shares than sold for a change. Might break out for a glass of Vimto tonight.
Onwards and upwards.
I’m happy (and more importantly so is the City) with that RNS.
This is the sentence that stands out to me.
"The net result is that we have ended the year in a strong financial position, with no bank borrowings and are much more effective operationally than we were before the pandemic. We are now even better prepared to execute our refocused strategy and are confident in the future prospects of the business."
Nice safe place to keep and increase my £.
Onwards and upwards.
Results RNS due today.
Not expecting fireworks but hopefully should be enough to steady the ship.
Fingers crossed everybody and good luck.
Yup - its just a waiting game. I also a few weeks back sold more of my wrks shares and moved it into Shoe Zone but they both should be ok after the summer tills have rung.
That’s the million $ question Sue and one that nobody knows the answer to for sure. We all wish that we had sold 2 weeks ago and bought them back today but that’s hindsight. The shops are busy and that’s a fact so providing there are no more lockdowns which I personally don’t think there will be then your money is safe here. Try to switch off and check less. Come back in a couple of months and I think you will be pleasantly surprised. That’s my plan anyway. Good luck.
Nearly two weeks since I asked the question - where now? Another 10p down. Hopefully will turn soon. I'm optimistic and have cancelled my stop loss which would have triggered today!
Yeah Rox, enjoy the retirement. I retired last year at the age of 50. I think Shoe Zone with the Free Delivery to people's homes throughout this year is the reason why you may see the shops not too busy. The shoes are cheap so people order bulk and return what they don't need. I have about 50K in Shoe across my SiPP and ISA and abouit 30K in works. I kinda like the US stocks better as the UK FTSE is a snail in comparison. Loaded up on Ford, AMD, QFin, Dropbox and Spotify and all doing nicely - The UK market is a bore but only worth it during the pandemic. I started investing because of the pandemic as my early retirment timed the market - so to speak ..lol
Hi PurpleInvestor I’m also retired at an early age (60) and also spend far too much of it on these discussion boards BUT it has made me a small actually large fortune so not complaining. I do think the big money has been made now though in terms of multi bagging.
Wrks is a good one though and has certainly got another 50% in the next 12 months Imo.
I have a smallish (20 grand) in Shoe Zone but the problem I have with it is that there is never anybody in the shop whenever I pass by and I mean NEVER in fact the other day whilst sat outside I actually saw a shoplifter stuffing a pair of shoes under their jumper!
Whereas the Works is always busy. The busiest by far though is the Card Factory were I am also heavily invested.
Must declare i did reduce my holdings in Wrks as i have this and Shoe Zone as my biggie investments in my UK Portfolio - bit of BP too but lets not talk about that tortoise. Zeus capital have been appointed as Shoe Zone sole broker and Zeus have helped many small cap public firms to go private this past year. I am expecting a family buyout of Shoe Zone too as the share price is so low and i feel being manipulated... so swapped my ratio over to Shoe to gain this advantage. Hopefully it will either go up quick or be bought up and then I will add the slush fund to wrks to grab the summer tills. Depressing lack of audience participation on this board. Mind you being retired at an early age I probably have too much free time to comment here ...
