For anyone wondering this RNS is TDR moving their holding to a subsidiary (Constellation Automotive Holdings Limited) which owns Cinch and BCA https://www.tdrcapital.com/portfolio/constellation-automotive-group/

Just seen results , look ok and welcome divy increase
Chart looks very nice to me over last year 18month
Value will out in time
Gla
Not sure why the brakes are stuck on the Vertu motor share price, anyone know a good mechanic?
Pretty decent results I thought. £4.7bn revenue is a big increase on last year's £4bn. Other key metrics going in right direction, free cash flow up while net debt down.
The question marks like BEV depreciation and used car market turbulence late last year now in rear view mirror, so current financial year should improve further still. Good to see fresh buyback and increasing divi. Underlying profit of £34.6m a reminder of how slender margins in this industry are, but I make that a p/e of only 7.5 - with net asset value per share at 70.5p those profits are virtually free at this price.
Hopefully todays move is indicative of good results tomorrow and we do not lose this gain. Shorters too hopefully have called it wrong.

When, not if, there is a bid it will end up in the 125-130p.
Could management resist a bid c£1?
surely to a well capitalised US corporate that would be great value for a serious foothold in a market crying out for consolidation
News today Inchscape offloaded the retail arm to Group 1. They're NYSE listed $3.6bn, so good read across for sector that these large US firms still interested in acquiring UK car dealership assets, after bids for Pendragon and Lookers last year.
Price paid £346m. For context it had revenue of £2.07bn, operating profit of £49m.
Vertu today valued at £224m. We await full year results but last year Vertu had revenue £4bn - or nearly double the Inchscape subsidiary that sold for 50% more than Vertu's current valuation.
Depends what Cinch is up to with their holdings and further who acquires the Inchcape retail space?
Will check again end of august.

Have now sold 50% of their shares in pendragon. They also raised £120 million last year, probably to fund a purchase in pendragon. The question is, what will they do with the money now?

Still a big buyer here, probably TDR Capital. I wonder what there end game is? I'm guessing its profit, just as they did with Lookers.

2 x 2.7 Million shares dealt, looks like buys to me, although it's not affecting the share price. We should find out tomorrow or Thursday. Its getting lively now!! Vertu not continuing their buy back either, offer on the table??

I mentioned last year once they went over 5% that I believed their target was 10%+, looks like it's now playing out that way. That threshold will be put them in position to potentially appoint nominee to board and ultimately call more shots. Where it gets interesting is they're far from alone in building a position here.
Now own 8%!! Someone knows something and it's clearly not the idiot below!!!

Feels 100% like large interests are trying to get the impatient to sellout, off to Alps until end of March ,no inter web best of luck all.
Definitely still a big buyer here, every day buys of 10,20,30k shares. Probably TDR Capital.
Volume is drying up again , all buys no one selling . Topping up holding .
Gla
What are the levels that trigger a major holding rns , know about 3% not sure on others
With TDR buying and Vertu also buying back their shares surely puts a floor under the share price. Enjoy the ride JpMorgan, perhaps you should close your hopefully, ill timed short.

Up 1%, 6 to 7%
Cinch still buying - wonder what they'll stop at? 10% 20%? 100%???!
I wonder if Sytner's purchase of Rybrook today has got people thinking about Vertu being purchased

Certainly a lot better than last Thursday, so glad that I did not panic sell. Seems Jpmorgan Asset Management might have made a big mistake with their recent short.

12% up since the doom mongers arrived last week.
All I’ve read on here is just how good this company is but how much further we are likely to fall. These seemingly “balanced” posts are laughable. You’re not fooling anyone especially Mr Gould who purchased 22k right at the end of the day.
Will certainly buy the shares if they fell another 20-30%, to give me a margin of safety, especially if we go in to recession in 2024.
I purchased a Honda from them 12 months ago and received a great service and ended up extending the warranty + service plan.
Excellent dealership and a good experience.
Will I buy another car from them again? Definitely.
Will I buy their shares? Most probably but not at this price as I can see further distress coming.
Buy buy buy
The balance sheet is rock solid. Trading below book value per share (£1). Looking very vulnerable to a takeover bid - I would have thought £1.10 would do it after this recent fall.

Market sentiment!!! 3 dealer groups have been bought and de listed this year. Why?? Because they were cheap!! Vertu the only one left.......Heddin are still looking for a foothold in the UK, others are hovering.
PS. At least you know what you are.
And even TNAV hasn't provided support in the recent past
Doesn't take long for the muppets to arrive here, who believe their own BS, without doing any research. NAV is 75p.

See if the supply of shares gets mopped up .
Trade buyers have been buying in why they know this market .
Rns hard on negatives and very specific but not so clear on positives why .
Volume for take over needs to come from somewhere . As for close brothers do you really believe they had info in advance .
See who it closes out end of week , expensive morning for me
Did Close brothers know something ?
RNS Trading Update and 20% drop !
I think it is all luck appleby I know nothing really not into charting , do not use stop loss.
Not been impressed by brokers advise but only had ones from the smaller AIM type brokers ( SVS ect )
Who is your broker , might be better , but was he clear .
Rise is news driven and looks steeper than last few , my target was 85p or 115p based on charting , but starting to think your clear exit point may be correct , does not help having 1m plus shares in this and broker ringing twice a day suggesting I am overweight here .
Gla
Sold to early with today's hindsight below 7.30am RNS started the rise .
Some funny business with company house records falsely altered on directors resigning was yesterdays news .
Sticking to a preset target maybe not as good as waiting for top.
Today's news feed into takeover rumors
Vertu Motors PLC, up 6.7% at 83.66 pence, 12-month range 45.00p-84.22p. The stock rises after a regulatory filing shows car-buying website operator Cinch has lifted its stake in Vertu. Cinch now has a 4.2% stake in the Gateshead, England-based car dealership chain, lifted from 3.1%. The stock hits this 52-week high on Thursday.

One thing is for sure - any takeover approach will now be accelerated IMO. Hardly a savage profit warning - 17%. Let’s wait and see
Won't be surprised to see the sells hoovered up and the sp back at 80 by close.

I don’t think the stock is anything to really worry about. There is a structural shortage of second hand cars in the U.K. the profit warning is a kick in the teeth but I wonder if it’s a clear the deck job pending takeover. Management onside to keep their jobs? Ultimately, you have three options: sell, do nothing or buy. I have doubled down at 66p. GLA
How are they going to shift the 1,000s of cars in stock? At a cash loss would be my guess!
They benefitted massively in the years after covid where they could sell 2nd hand cars for a huge premium over cost.
I'd like more info on how they going to shift the 1000s of overpriced cars in stock??
Boom times over, certainly for the next few years, no one will want to buy the business with all that stock... Gla
Whilst it’s a disappointing update, the vultures will definitely be circling now to get us on the cheap, so I’m staying put
I'm back in sub 50p in the new year.
Profit warning today just the start.. Gla

Humongous volume yesterday. Looks like we are in the final lap before the unknown predator strikes.
3 x 3 Million trades
Ok initial bid 105
Bit of fun and speculative with Cinch increasing. Any predictions for a bid, will go with 110p. Vertu is the last major car dealership listed.
The question has to be why as cinch doubled its position in this company .
It would be a mega deal if Cinch tried to buy Vertu. I doubt it will happen. Seems an odd move. Maybe they are just trying to diversify a little?
It's a very interesting move, having reached this point I reckon they must be looking for 10%, that would give real influence and potential ability to appoint someone to board. They could of course go all the way to 30% until being required to make an offer, but unless they team up with another backer not clear they have firepower for that, and at this rate it'd be slowest takeover ever.
Either way buys from someone like this at the coal face of car biz gives Vertu a lot of credibility

Large increase in volume yesterday , looks like buys to me . No real selling volume came in .
What about the 2x 2850k trades just before?
We'll find out who that is tomorrow hopefully.
Is that a 800k buy I see
Run on the stops this morning’s no volume showing on trades yet but may show up at close, was down to an obvious level to get liquidity . Expect this to go higher in next few weeks .
Yes noted
