The UK merger will take place in the second half of next year
Jax
re Spain- I think many people would say that getting 5 Billion euros for loss making assets is a good deal . So 5 Billion and not having to take about a 400 million loss each year.
Plus Long they sell assets on the cheap and the three merger is odds on not to happen
Sacking staff is the easy option and will be the only success MDV achieves
I like all those suggestions Long
Problem is MDV wonāt do the last two
Cancellation
Sell non performing assets.
Merge with 'three' in UK - reducing costs.
Get rid of excess staff
Get rid of dividend completely.
Have a Ā£2 Billion per year share repurchase programme for cancelled.
SORTED

In the short term ,I am only interested in the share price if it reaches another purchasing level . I have no concern about a share price tomorrow, next week, next month, or at any time.
Ok long
Guess the sp cop tomorrow?

''Vod is on its way out of business''
All of your posts appear to be total ballax
Why would Vod going bust be a disaster - itād be brilliant
The market cap is tiny so pensions wonāt take much a hit if anything. People and businesses will just automatically switch to a better company. Banks will fire sell and call in loans any balance and there will be a balance owed to the banks as VODs assets are way overvalued, will just be soaked up.
Vod is on its way out of business imo
Trading share only
Jedclampit. If they are all crooks, how come their shareholders are losing so much money. Please don't say the b.o.d. are all crooks & over paid, because their salary is peanuts compared to the sums involved. Vod needs to raise its prices a lot, but of course in a fair way. Surely if vod went bust, that would be dissaster, not just for it's shareholders.
The last set of results disappointed materially with the increase in the debt from 32b to 35billion. In this higher interest rate environment it was the last thing the market wanted to see.
But did MDV kitchen sink stuff to give herself a clearer run into 2024?
Whatever, next step of results needs to show her strategies are beginning to work with growth in revenues and a significant debt reduction programme in place.
van Boxmeer has been a disastrous Chairman, no crossover from Heineken revitalising parts others cannot reach so far, the market will hunt this share down until MDV and van B give them a compelling reason not too.
I am not that confidentā¦..
Yes thanks for this. Market sentiment is a weird one... I bought int o TUI at the wrong time - lost about 75% of my investment, but still holding and it is up 50% in a couple of weeks - long way to go to get my money back. And then there is Rolls Royce, I have more than doubled there with little significant change in the underlying numbers, just degrees of confidence.
My average for VOD is now around 77p. Fingers crossed for the longer term.
Lol, and a donkey called George is going to win the Grand National š š¤£
McT - You ask what am I missing & you also mention the debt pile, which I think everyone here knows is a big issue. As far as what am I missing may I suggest 'Market Sentiment'.
This is not to be overlooked & as an investor of many years I have seen this haunt companies many times, the mining sector around 2020 is a very good example, the market was giving them away & brokers forecasts were terrible.
How to repair sentiment & what is causing it? May I suggest the ongoing issue of dividends. At today's SP the yield is almost 12% which is much, much too high & the market knows it. All the while there is uncertainty of a cut the SP will struggle & will probably keep slipping until February's results at least.
There is always debate over whether a dividend cut is good for a companies share price, I recall when VOD last cut their dividend which was by 40%, in 2019 I think. The SP was around Ā£1.30 then & debt was about 27 billion euros, did a cut help, probably not in that case.
In Germany, there is also another looming problem which will affect VOD's earnings, a TV regulation change. Vodafone can no longer negotiate group deals with housing associations, all TV deals now need to be done with individual households. Broker Numis says this puts ā¬800mn (Ā£689mn) of revenue at risk from January 2024.
Back to market sentiment & miners, yes it recovered & I was fortunate enough to make some seriously good revenue of my own having brought BHP & GLEN whilst they were in the doldrums back in 2020.
So, if the miners can do it so can VOD - just be patient & keep your fingers crossed, good luck all.
She definitely knows more than all those multi billion $ brokers pushing this carp uphill. Tea leaves have a much better track record than those big US brokers, if ever there was a bunch of conmen look no further! Jmo
I is FINKING it was lucky I sold owt of my small position at Ā£1.25 back in the summer of 2022.
I even made a small PHROFET.
I gets my share advice from my old mum
"Don't you go buying them Vodafone shares again"
She knows what is what on fings like that.
The market always over corrects, so could touch 60p before bouncing back to where it is now possibly? More likely to hit 60p before 70p the direction of travel suggests. Jmo.
I don't see why this is crashing.... 10%ROI, 25% margin. PE 6.something This does not look like a company about to die. What am I missing? Massive debt - but interest rates are falling; so....?
Well done by adding on just first day of fall and that too market when market was up..
It touched 66p briefly. It's going to revisit again today as nothing seems to be in favour of telcos at the moment..
Another broker downgrade will put this on permanent 60p target. LOL

How many times has the dividend be cut in the past 5 years?. This is a dividend trap and has sucked a lot of income investors in, unfortunately the crash in the SP has wiped a lot of that income out, and as we've all seen the dividend continues to get slashed as the SP falls, so very difficult to call a bottom on this, especially as selling the transmitters has reduced yet another income stream. The more they want to cut the debt mountain they have to lose income which supports the high dividend. Not a great recipe for long term sustainability is it really? JMO
So this was 72.19 last week!
See once broker TP 68p. Is this ever going back up again above 70 .....
