jedclampit. Vodafone does not owe twice what it is worth. Vodafone is worth about £74 billion(enterprise value) It's debt's are about £45 billion. So it is worth over 1.5 times it's debt. You are confusing vod's value with it's market cap, which is about £28.5 billion. To demonstrate my point, Let's say l borrow £100million pounds to buy a company for £100million, the company does well, & it is later valued £120million, If I then were to sell shares in the company they would have a market cap of £20million,(enterprise value, minus debt). My deb't therefore would be 5 times the market cap, but only 80% of the value of the company. So debt should always be compared to enterprise value, which is market cap, plus deb't. I know this is difficult to understand for some , but it is the whole basis of companies that are highly geared, so you really should try to understand this before investing on the stock market. Vod however does need to reduce it's deb't. in my opinion. But no more false/fake info please, I've had enough for one week! Tomorrow is the big one?! Good luck to all vod shareholders. Including one share Mikey.
Robina. I can assure the B.O.D. care vary much about the sp, as they are all in share incentive schemes which will reward them big time if the sp rises. Robina, More false info from you, so go to jail, don't pass go, & don't collect 200!
Thank's Mikey. I hope things go well for you as well, my question is, what needs to happen for things to go well for you? I, & I think many on here, don't understand what your objective is? Mine is obvious, I own a lot of vodafone shares. Your's is less clear?
think it still needs Ofcom and CMA approval. The 2 organisations could agree by the end of next month was the last reported timeline I saw. interesting that niel supports consolidation and France is already at 3 operators...

Oh well - good luck everybody - i really hope it goes well for you all , yes even Danielh . Unfortunatley I can see us back in the 90s and with ex div next week could be even lower .
Due to startup costs in Ethiopia. H2 outlook good.
Growth stock :)

It's like a monopoly player intent on buying the whole board with loans from the bank but insufficient income from the properties it owns. Amazing that the dividend has survived really. Clearly the bod doesn't care about the sp.
Vodacom shares fell as much as 6.5% on Monday, the most since March 2020, after the earnings miss and a decision to cut the interim dividend. Vodacom is more than 60% owned by the U.K.’s Vodafone.
Yes debt seems to be the biggest problem here with MC aprox £28b and debt about £44b that I can make out, just how many other companies owe twice what they are worth?

Vodacom Group today received regulatory approval to acquire a 55% controlling stake in Vodafone Egypt in a R41 billion deal.
Well tomorrows the day - wish i felt positive but how can you with this company . Slowly but surely dropping back down today and probably finish in the Red . This could see new lows tomorrow - the markets still don’t like this Company and nothing is going to change that . Will be interesting how Read tries to wrap these results up and say how well he is doing !!!!- good luck all !!!!
Hello Gary. As you say Bearish has got the wrong end of the stick. He is confusing the share but back scheme with management share option/incentive schemes which are completely different. I don't know were you get "Most shares purchased by vod get re issued to pay down deb't" though? That is not the case. They are held in treasury, so as not to dilute the sp, as they pay no divi's on these treasury shares. I know it is is very complex, but it is important not to give out fake info on here as Bearish was. Cheers mate, let's hope tomorrows results are good.
Time to announce a deal is on or off. Talks are said to have been ongoing for a while and a framework agreed for a deal….it seemed just the amount of debt owed to VOD by the combined entity was to be agreed.
Vod closing sp 18th Nov
Doyen Dan 110.4p
Scarti B 118p
Newsid 96.7p
Mikeh68 95p
Wayzgoose 112.5p
Vodger 109p
Pennysworth 110p
Exil 102.5p
Roofer 100p
List so far
Hi vodger, yes that 's what I was thinking, somewhere around the £1.02-£1.04 seems very good value and should go back up to £1.20 + after this week plus a divi.
Anyway finger on the buy button ready for £1.02 ish but may still push the button at £1.04. all the pennies make a difference on thousands of buys.
jed, hoping that the div is increased slightly. The Vantage deal retains 50% under VOD control so Reed sees future value whilst paying down debt. I assume the div policy should be on the same glide path and therefore increase from 4.3 cents + [2%] say..that would be a strong message and reflected in SP
Daniel I think that Bearish may have gotten the wrong end of the stick as regards buy back. Most shares purchased by VOD get re-issued to pay down debt, I quote … “Vodafone said it would buy back up to £340m of shares as the first stage in offsetting the issue of shares linked to convertible bonds.” So when a bond becomes payable (& Vod have lots sadly) the shares brought back & which aren’t cancelled are re-issued & off we go again.
If the buy back shares were really cancelled the SP here would be much, much higher & the City knows it.
Hi guys been looking at these for months now and think I will buy a few thou if they hit 102p, think the results are out this week and a divi of about 3p so a little return. any views ?
102.5 for me please
Please put me down for 110p again
I recon we are in for a great week! Put me down for 112.5p please
BEARISHBULL. You say you are not a fan of buy back. You then say that "at the moment our profits are buying shares to be handed out to management at a later date". Where do get this info from? Are you you talking about the M.C.B. buyback program? Giving out fake info is not very helpful, so can you please explain, or please withdraw you comments? Thank you.
I hope am wrong & will go for 96.7. Thanks
Vodafone closed level on the nasdaq at 12.47 which equates to 105.37 on the L.S.E. at current exchange rates. I will go an optimistic (as always) 1.10.4 for Friday hoping for good results. Hope to see some high predictions from you all, but everybody welcome, high or low. Even happy Mikey is joining in for a change, so good luck to him, although I of course hope he is wrong.
