What do Newmont do with the Newcrest stake...?
Do they hold for gain...?
Mount a bid themselves...?
Or sell to a prospective bidder....but surely not for a price below 40p and, as happened when McManus and Magnier sold their stake to the Glazers, it could all happen pretty quickly after that...
"but surely not for a price below 40p"
You think Newmont, worth over $30bn, are going to be playing hardball with 10% stake in a non-care asset in Ecuador? I imagine it'll be put in the bottom drawer and forgotten about until someone makes an offer for all of SOLG, at which point they'll sell up, regardless of price. Of more concern is them deciding to dump it into the open market.
Morning SM ….. surely they’d sound out the Chinese or BHP before doing that
You'd hope so, but what they do with their stake in SOLG will be pretty far down the priority list given that Newmont have no presence in Ecuador and their stake is worth approx. £50m at today's prices. I think the most likely course of action is that they'll sit and do nothing.
Hope you are well Dbw
Rk. If it was of any interest to anyone but the solg excitable few. Do you not think the markets would show an interest. We're at this moment up 0.5 %.
But no matter let's chatter about it for a few days, till the next bit of excitement comes along
Captain ellipsis is back, I see...
I wonder, if you asked the NCM board to list their top 50 most important investments of the last few years, whether solg would be a 'pointless' answer. I suspect it would be close.
Conclusion: Newmont won't do anything with the shake, besides potentially forget they own it. But nice to see red getting all frothy again 😂
As fewer and fewer people respond to our resident rodent clowns, watch how the desperation results in resorting to speaking to “themselves” using multi-aliase logins some of which haven’t been used for a while. lol.
The paymasters must be fuming and really cracking the whip.
All good thanks SM, just waiting for some kind of a reveal as always
Morning Pad
Apparently new website still a couple of weeks away zzzz
Hi pad. Be a bit brave and do some name checking, no one on here will mind. When you mumble to the crowd like that you seem petty. I've been away for a couple of days, but I'm still not on anyone's payroll and I'm still not posting under multiple names. I'm sorry if this undermines your argument, but please don't get upset.
Posters pointing out that there isn't currently any good news coming out of solg aren't being paid to drive down the price (if they were, this BB would be an odd choice of apparatus). Instead, they are mostly investors unimpressed by the continued slide to 16p under a new management structure that hasn't managed any coherent messaging or direction. They are troubled by the use of 'booster' rhetoric and 'wait and see' comms, when it's clear solg is struggling in a cul de sac.
Awaiting a charitable takeover has never and will never be a good business plan. If the SR makes reasonable suggestions around de-risking cascabel and monetizing our numerous concessions, people will change their tune. If it continues to be delayed and then yields little in the way of new ideas, frustrations will continue. Do you understand?
Padmaster the only clown on here with multiple aliases is Slug.
Your hitting the bottle a bit early pad. Be careful mate. Don't want you making a late night fool of yourself like the other day. Have a good weekend.
By the way. Have you seen the share price. 15p who would of thought it after those heady days, when this board was awash with £4.50 a share. Do you remember mate. We played that game of guess the sp by Xmas. Seems a long while ago now mate.
Pads. It might be a good idea to read quady and agar posts. Then reflect
Morning DBW
Morning or evening where you are Kalneedabari.
Just remind us all what name you posted under when playing guess the share price, those years ago? Whilst telling us, remind us of all the other usernames and the reasons why you were banned and had to change names so many times.
Padmaster. That does what to take away agru a d quadys excellent posts.
Also mate do you realise if your correct about my aliases all those years ago. It kind of disproves the fact I'm not a lth. Silly Billy.
1745 hours here buddy. Mid winter. Been 18 degrees today. Bit nippy. Just heading for a Friday session. So leave you to your frustrations. Sp 15p
You won’t be watching England level the ashes series then kalneedabari?
Come on Pad- I like cricket, and we all know what happens when you make a prediction. You've ruined it now.
Are you responding on behalf of needalife, Agar or more likely, you just forget to switch usernames?
Not a chance
Why would NaL, who either is or pretends to be Australian (and can't spell, by the looks of it, but that's academic) want to avoid jinxing the England team, which is what I was accusing you of? Are you a bit simple, Pad, or are the accusations of day-drinking levelled here accurate?
Since your little snark earlier, we're all out with a 91 run deficit. Mercifully I don't actually believe I'm jinxing things, but my point remains.
Sorry to anyone saving today's action for the highlights. It'll be a quick rundown of the England tailenders....
Sharketmare, I know you are out of SOLG at the moment and that often affects outlook but seriously... do you really think Newmont are any different to BHP? BHP are much much bigger and yet they seem very interested in SOLG so much so they were trying to do underhand things with our BoD's to aid them in their quest to gain a Tier 1 asset on the cheap.
You are suggesting that Newmont don't care at all because they are $30bln + market cap yet BHP who are 150bln market cap clearly do care.
mmm. I think you've been smoking those "I'm out of SOLG and on the sidelines cigarettes"!
*did care
Minor correction to Fort's ramp
From DBWs posted article.
".If Newmont decides to stay in Ecuador, it will seek to acquire 100% of the Fruta del Norte mine and expand its interest in the Cascabel prospect.
I believe that Newmont will stay in Ecuador and use the path opened by Newcrest in its strategy to fully enter Fruta del Norte and expand its stake in Cascabel."
Guys, Warren Irwin pretty much confirmed in his recent interview that there hasn't been a rush of majors looking to buy Solg. It would appear that the Chinese are the only interested party so far. That explains why Scott is now working on a new mine plan to bring additional parties to the table. We could be waiting here for a while yet:
