bhp and Newcrest still have 20.6% between them. What newmont will do with that stake is anyones guess but I'm guessing they won't be selling it to bhp for sure as they don't like bhp very much and all about egos in the Aussie mining industry.
20p...20p...20p....
Certainly looks like that latest bump up in the offer price has won over the major holders in Newcrest. Company had great prospects but was run by a CEO that was both childish and inexperienced with mining industry. Never forget that toys out of the pram rant at SOLG when the royalty deal was done. What Tiswas bizwas was. BHP embarrassed themselves too. I remember at the time thinking why on earth are this multi billion dollar super majors embarrassing themselves by venting their anger of little old SOLG! lol!
I see mm's making the ISA brigade hurt a bit as 20p beckons today.
Should see some more green lines appearing soon as some must be getting irritable by the recent rise.
Come on Orphencopper... surely there's a crakc pot Ecuador negative story you can pull up for us??
Dam iPhone playing up apols for typo there everyone
Some good info to read this morning thanks for uydposting guy's
If the same 40% premium is paid to solg share holders, as what newmont are offering new crest. It will make our shares worth apx 28p each, at today's price. Not to sure how that will go down with the fantasists. Maybe we will get a 500% premium to get to that elusive £1. I'm sure mathers got a plan. After all he's spent the last 15 years looking after us retail share holders. In nic we trust
I wonder if we will headhunt Craig Jones back? He really enjoyed his spell with us last time ;-)
*Looks like Newmont will take out Newcrest... Newmont has successful track record competing for BHP owned assets!
Good news
They got exactly what they deserved having tried to take this from under us for a song ….. now the Chinese are in town they’ll have to pay up if they want it or move aside …. Like the school bully getting his comeuppance
It was not a good idea to insult a major shareholder.
6 months...tick tock...lost the bat, Bob..?
Fortissimo. Just FYI. it's not 0223 hours where I live. Just saying mate. Don't want you making another fool of yourself. Have a good day
Do you not think these sort of events have any impact whatsoever on solg or potential buyers?.
Do you not think that maybe if a new government was elected on a mandate to ban mining ( possibility) it wouldn't impact all miners? . Let alone exploration. The fact this constant threat is still hanging over us after many years, must be a concern to all but those who's daily ramblings adorn this board
A;so Intag full of indigienous communities , and hippy environmentalists. Cascabel is not.

Afternoon all.
Just fyi, local press confirming Codelco mine in Intag, which is in Imbabura, has had licence revoked.
Although initially a bit worrying, heres a few facts to mull over.
Licence was granted under Correos watch, and knowingly unlawful as proper legal consultation was not done with locals, so perhaps they deserve it? Also Correo infamous for backhanders!!
As far as I am aware Solgold is not in the same situation?
Although Intag is in same province it is about two and a half hours south of cascabel and completely different landscape, very beautiful, river, mountains, flora and fauna, and full wildlife. Cascabel is almost none of those.
Anyway just info
Dont think will have any effect on cascabel

Q " Remember you heard it here first."
From the company of course !
Number 1
So what remains:
1. A take over
2. Nothing and some sort of governmental decision to bring some discipline.
JV for Cascabel won't happen...and we won't take it to production...
We all know what was contained in the SR announcement and let's hope it does lead to the advancement of Cascabel, thereby adding value. Of course, the various stated aims of the SR are all stepping stones and are not of themselves a definitive statement that the company intends to take this to production. Indeed, as far as I can see no such statement was made.
Three of the four bullet points are relatively specific, however, the fourth point - " any other transaction or series of related transactions" demonstrates just how wide-ranging the SR is, and is the catch-all which says we are open to all possibilities.
I recognise a jv is a possibility, although god knows how this would provide a short term shareholder return, but it's also important to recognise that the fourth bullet point encompasses the possibility of a sale of Cascabel and given what our CEO and advisors have said, the balance of probability lies with an exit.
What we do know is that the Ecuador government has said that 4 (or) 5 mines by 2025 that’s just 18 months away so i’am guessing solgold have to announce something soon….tick tock ….imminent tick tock Merci beaucoup.
Good morning all.
Not sure what some make of the strategic review.
First it's definitely happening.
Those like Redknight, DBW and that repulsive Slug creature are in denial saying it won't happen.
So next the strategic review .
Solgold have already laid out what is in it.
It's how we advance Cascabel, and coupled with that we now have a final PFS.
So what does that mean.
Well this is about the finer points of mine design.
It is to create the most environmentally friendly mining construction in the world.
Many on here will not believe me, but as the news slowly leaks out
Remember you heard it here first.
I have been looking at all the announcements from government, Solgold and our partner's and how this pans out.
Well I have no idea.
But this is what the strategic review is about.
Yep right on their doorstep with way less red tape as everything already in full swing there .
As you know I’ve always thought a sale is the inevitable conclusion here , but I’m all for adding value in the meantime especially as we have no idea what exactly would or wouldn’t be sold( I suspect the lot but would love the opportunity to remain invested in some of our unexplored licences).
The silence here is ( as always) deafening but I suspect a clear direction will be laid out for us before too long.
As for the strategic review I’m at a loss as to why this would take so long as they must have already agreed a common path forward in order to accommodate the merger, hence my previous comments with regards to it being somewhat of a smokescreen.
I guess we’ll all find out one day
