Morning all. Not solgold related so forgive me. I am absolutely amazed at how my homeland England has changed in 20 years! I had heard of a minister of common sense, but thought it was a joke! Is that real? Toilets for kids separate from boys and girls because they dont know what sex they are? A comment from a contributor to a political party that an mp makes him want to hate black women and she should be shot!! Wtf is happening in my beloved England!!

England is being run ( into the ground ) for the benefit of everyone else but the English. Just look at the ethnicity of the leadership for a clue.
Sadly, this is what happens when you have such low grade individuals who, through a combination of vanity, narcissism and blind ambition, decide they want to become politicians. There have always been bad politicians, but never before have we had some many of them - and this extends to those at local level. This is not just a UK problem, but extends throughout the Western world - America being the most egregious example.
We are very poorly served by our ruling elites and I'm afraid there's no light at the end of the tunnel.
Good Morning Darren,
Standards have indeed fallen. However, I would rather be here than anywhere else.
Nonsense Kat, the ethnic folks in leadership positions demonstrates how far the country has progressed in the right direction. Not so long ago there were signs saying No Irish, No Blacks, No Dogs. Now we have a non-White PM, even if I think he isn't a very capable PM. Kind of like Scott, he is the best we could get after Boris messed up 😆 For Boris, think DC!
"No Irish, no blacks, no dogs" is obviously unacceptable and offensive, as I know many people who get a lot of love and companionship from dogs.
A degree in politics, paid for by mummy and daddy does not make anyone qualified to be a politician… No one under 35 who has never had any job or career, should be allowed to become an MP.
Life experience… preferably one showing success, beyond a subsidised lifestyle should be essential.
Ha! Good one, Eloro. Personally, I'd liken Johnson to Mather. All over the place with no clear strategy and a habit of upsetting people. This contrasts with Caldwell, who has a crystal clear strategy and an iron-willed determination to deliver it.
Just like we realised that DC was a cuckoo in the nest, having allegiance to a previous hostile regime, then the same applies to many of the 'elitists' who have the levers of power.
You're absolutely right there, Orthern. I would have a minimum age requirement for politicians of 40 and at leats 15 years work experience with absolutely no connection to politics. I'd also get rid of all those children who are described as Spads. They wield a huge level of influence and yet can barely tie their own shoelaces.
😆 I knew that you would rally to Scott's defence Add 😆 He has 8 months to prove his worth before we vote again!
I wrote it for you, Eloro. I know how much you respect him.
Do you really believe we'll get to December without anything happening? The writing's on the wall in big capital letters and even those with a guide dog can read it.
Eloro,
This could be sold well before then, I personally can see this in someone else’s hands, who’s is the question

Add, equate me to the Apostle Thomas! Unless I can put my finger into his wound, I will continue to doubt. I will wait until we have an outcome before I start to sing his praise. I recall that we weren't going to see the 2023 agm, yet here we are.
Cheers Mathers, I hope that both you and Add are right. I really need an holiday which will be my treat to myself should we get sold while I can still get up the stairs of an aircraft and not stumble like President Biden!
Eloro, Doubting Thomas was killed with a spear, so if we take your analogy further, in your case the spear will be an RNS which strikes you through the heart. And bear in mind Jesus presented the evidence and told him to stop doubting and to believe...which is exactly what Caldwell's doing.
I hear you Add, I prefer "did" to "doing".
So, I will wait to read what Scott did, and not what we think he is doing!
Politics is an odd one and lets face it, if you are good at your profession, successful in life, then you are not going to go into politics. It's not for successful people. It's for a certain type of person... the type that need some kind of feeling of self importance. That's why you rarely find and smart ones and most are just Eton drop outs types.
But placing that aside, can anyne seriously explain out of all the millions of people in the US.. why the most powerful country in the world (apparently) would head into their elections with two candiates... 1. An old man that can't string a sentence together or even stand up properly without falling over and 2. An absolute nutter who's associated with failed business, tax fiddles, call girls and laughed at global media? I just can't work that one out? Surely the US can find two better candidates than that??? That's how sad the world is... the fact that Russia can't get rid of Putin shows you that the 'free world' is far from free and the fact that the US has two absolutely 'wrong' candidates running for president tells teh west is not any different.
It's madness. Utterly bonkers world we live in today.
Kat - nobody realised Cazzubbo was a cuckoo. Nobody had a problem with him even despite the dialed down reserves, until he was fired which caught many by surprised.
I know this because I was the one who pointed out the BHP representation amongst the company's senior management at the time. That was addressed soon after for obvious reasons.
Bozi, the DC situation is interesting. He claimed that he was merely carry out the wishes of the Board and that he was sacked when the Board changed its mind and this appears to have merit.
If I'm right about the release of the contingent liabilities in the last accounts, it's cost us £2m to get rid of DC and to my mind, the blame lies squarely with Mather and Twigger. This is not to say I thought he was any good - I didn't - and getting rid of him opened the way towards what most of us want.
I think much if not all of that is valid, Add and without doubt Darryl's sacking has propelled us a few light years further along.
I also wholeheartedly share your view on SC.
I also think there's sense in your comparison between Johnson and Mather, personality wise at least. I'd say one did a much better job than the other though.
Bozi, yes, that's true. At least Johnson got us out of the EU.
I was quite proud to be part of the EU. Now look at us, all alone without any trade deals to replace the EU. Just ask the Scottish Fisher men what they think the benefits of Brexit are!
Now is the time for unity, not us alone. Russia and China are the threats, not Brussels. No trade deal from the USA. So much for the special relationship!
We are better off alone if there is a threat from the East, they will have to fight their way through Europe just like the last World Wars and the Yanks will still use us as the last refuge of democracy before the Atlantic. I doubt there will be Nukes over the US unless we also fell. I was just thinking yesterday how the Media reported how bad the EU's finances were before Brexit happened. They revelled in the bad news of all the bust EU countries like Greece etc. When the vote went the wrong way for them they immediately stopped bad mouthing the EU and started their long campaign against Brexit.
I wouldn't be surprised if the BBC helped to finance the obnoxious bloke who still disrupts broadcasts on College Green.
The special relationship will get a whole lot better when we get Trump back in.
On the downside he might just make things worse in the East.
Once Biden's gone a trade deal will follow. Mind you, the world will be in the hands of yet another mad man, so a trade deal will be the least of our worries.
On the subject of Russia, if you haven't already seen it, I'd urge you to watch 20 Days in Mariupol. I've never seen such a heartbreaking and powerful documentary.
As for the EU, I can see no reason why we'd want to continue being tethered to a sinking ship. Cameron offered them the opportunity to change, but they told him to feck off, something many of them have subsequently said was a big mistake. They have one choice, reform or die.
Eloro we have lots of trade deals.
Even with the USA.
Just not a complete trade deal.
Also before Brexit the USA was the country we did most trade with.
We gave tens of billions of pounds to the EU, any in return they restricted our trade with the rest of the world.
Costs are rising faster in the EU as extra regulations means more difficult to trade.
All protectionism eventually comes to an end.
Just as the EU will one day die.
Remember it took over forty years to destroy our trading position with the rest of the world.
We have been out of the EU for less than ten years.
We gave up a trade deal with 2.4 billion people to enter one with 0.5 billion people.
Remember we traded with the commonwealth.
