I think it is SM's master plan to bring the SP very low to get the attraction from various suitable parties for a good take over. He is a master stroker and probably this will be his final stroke.
The mc for sis is very low but ofcourse they are not going to sell at current value and thats why i think it would be out of AN reach.....that said, funny things happen in business.
What have they been playing at is a good question......placing so low and sentinent certainly not helped but there's a very good chance of a turnaround and it will be interesting to see how things pan out i suppose.
Maybe, maybe not. Just had a butchers at AN results on company house and thought they could now be in with a shout given last few years results, the war chest they’ve been building and the low price of SiS.
Does make you think what the hell have SiS been playing at when you compare the two!
I doubt a.n will buy sis, they dont have that kind of available cash and the way the market/sector is just now, im not sure they could get it or would want to put themselves in that sort of position.
Someone with deeper pockets might spring up but i would imagine its a case of getting the business back on track and creating value from where they are now back to where they were.
Bought PhD for £32m (RNS from Wed, 9th Jan 2019 07:00)
Still no trading update and we’re approaching final year end results soon - one way or another, update will be on the way in 6 weeks.
It does look crazy cheap at the moment, but if the new factory / overheads are too high and growth has stalled, then a slip is likely and buy out less likely - unless another sports nutrition business slots into fill new factory spare capacity and at that point, probably wouldn’t be a great offer. In this scenario, I’d go for Applied Nutrition buyout (especially given location) and their strong 2022 performance.
We bought for about PHD for £28.5m right?
Current Market Capitalisation of 22m for the whole group? The figures do not add up. SIS is too cheapl
Yes and big sales in the USA will be SIS a lot more attractive. I expect some form of interest for an asset or the whole company. And a rising share price. NOT good for long term holders but great for any new investor to buy at this level with news due any time now.
The USA is a huge market. Good for SIS
For old times sake i took a punt for SM to pull something out the fire but wont be surprised if it does not happen.
Still, some of my friends are in here so might get a holiday out of it if they can get over the hump!
What does it mean? Will it increase the SIS sales and make more profitable so that the probable takeover party will be more interested to make a good offer?
Stephen Moon managed to ruin that too...
Its going to happen. I am sure there are a few companies out there that will want to take the lot not just an asset. I expect big rise her soon. Before next week, is my estimate.
Watch this jump when an expression of interest is shown. 100% jump for sure.
ANY DAY NOW..
I think this will be SM's master stroke with two bidder and SP hits all time high. Nice to Sarasin got 5% stake.
STAKE BUILDING
SARASIN GOT A 5% STAKE SOMEHOW.
WHO ELSE WANTS IN?
What is going on here? Have they bought for a client or are they just investing with client funds? How did they come by this stake?
SARASIN has picked up a 5% plus stake.....
I can see THG taking this over. It will have to be 2x present price though...
ANY EXPRESSION OF INTEREST IN HERE AND BOOM
PhD - In December (2018), SIS acquired the premium performance nutrition brand, PhD Nutrition, for £32 million.

Puts a bit of scale on current share price.
Do you mean PXS or PhD?
No trading update (historically always issued in Jan).
AXA selling up.
Finance director and Ashley Read leaving in last few months.
Doesn’t look great, maybe new site + move hasn’t gone as planned and budget blown? Need to sell a lot to cover those new overheads! Declining market would be a real kick in the teeth.
Or
Buyer in the background, NDAs in place and nothing can be released. When you think how much was paid for the PhD buy out + the progress the business has made, does look crazy cheap.
Will be a lot more comfortable once the trading update is out.
Two bidders will be a wonderful thing. SM is a super stroker and he will play hard ball with two bidder. I think that is the reason he brought down the SP so low.
development due at any time. A sale or an offer. Either will lift the price. Two bidder and the shares will rocket fast.
