Now that the directors are buying, Barclays' target can't be far away. But I don't need a 200 price. All I want is 105.
they reduced their target by 10 pence ! - somebody `avin a laugh ?
I think they pressed the 2 key instead of a 1
Anyone know why Barclays has a price target of £2.07 on this when all the other brokers are half this? Are they operating on a different time-frame?
Good news today in the fact that everything is on the table and out in the open ....poor as it is at least we know where we are and what the BOD intends to do about it ( bar the exact sales details andrights issue price etc) .... 12-18 months from now things could look somewhat better ....
You obviously didn't contribute to or read any of the hmv bbs when you were in it if you think this bb is the most depressing you have seen in all your years - not sure if the short sellers or supposed fellow holders were the most abusive people I have ever encountered in my entire life - and I originated from one of the worst parts of Glasgow! Think there have been a few reincarnations who are floating about the retail bbs to this very day. rsa holders though could be doing with a 200% plus rise over the next two hours to lift the mood here lol. Really don't think anything unpredictable was contained in this morning's rns. We now await details of the rights issue and I note the use of the words rights issue rather than a placing.
I sold up, with a view to buy back circa 97-98. Seems I was pretty close, but the first few opening minutes looked as though it was going to be carnage. Quick recovery northwards....but is that just the bottom feeders thinking it had hit rock bottom.....some more damage to SP likely?
In a statement on Thursday outlining the conclusions of a strategic review launched last year when the troubles at its Irish arm emerged, RSA said it has already started making disposals, targeting around 300 million pounds in 2014. Hester said on a conference call that more sales could follow in 2015. The rest of the capital raised will come from retained earnings and the company said that "the impact of 2013 results means (a) final dividend cannot be justified."
Have I got this right ? there will be NO final dividend ?
On second skimming it look like the divi might not be cut in total but if paid out, will be "modest" A silver lining on the dark cloud after all. NAV of 75p so is the name worth 20p going forward. Kitchen sunk, so longer term, might be ok if your already in and you gain on the RI. I thought it would fall more so the Hester effect continues Good look All
Simple. It stays high until they get your money. After that the price will go down so fast that you will be instantly locked in like a barrel of fish - erh I mean investors. Something is not right. My longs in EMG are rocketing today and I don't even know why.
Nah.....just a bit of jiggery-pokery with the balance sheet.....institutions will get in on the act for the Rights
You gotta hope so. Terrible results. £338m loss, tangible assets only 45p a share, rights issue of 47% of NTA, £200m writeoff of UK IT, poor value reinsurance with Berkshire Hathaway, unclear outcome on reserves, rebased lower dividend after pass this time and 10% reduction in premiums in 2014. This draws a line. But hard to see why shares should be higher than 1.5x NTA = 67.5p
Don't worry, I've got a live price feed from elsewhere. I have never, in all my years, seen such a depressing board as this one. And I have been in both Yell/HIBU and HMV.
just type in RSA in the search field

Thanks for that, it's very helpful for those without the ability to look at live prices.
RSA INSURANCE GROUP PLC ORD 27.5P Bid 96.05p Offer 96.35p
RSA INSURANCE GROUP PLC ORD 27.5P Bid 97.3p Offer 97.75p
divi cut, £775 rights issue, winding down property and some area. Whats that £1.3B ish Bit worse than expected needs a large discount on the rights me think
In statement on Thursday announcing the conclusion of a strategic review launched in the wake of an accounting scandal at one of its divisions, RSA said it has already started making disposals, worth around 300 million pounds. "We have reluctantly concluded we must ask our shareholders, via a rights issue, for a substantial sum," the group's newly appointed troubleshooting chief executive Stephen Hester said. The group added that a final dividend, "cannot be justified."
No final dividend to be paid
You're determined....I'll give you that......go America !
The only thing priced in as far as I can tell is Bank of America want to off load at 105.
